Besides the fact that the expansion details have been posted in 13,000 other places, my point is that he alluded to there being further details about the future in his producers letter over the last couple of days but instead we got to read another long piece of marketing in the hopes that would could get some additional details..

i wouldnt have read it either if the servers had been up. i think of it is filler if you are already informed on details of expac.

There seems to be an issue with the new patcher. I've updated to it twice now, and yet each time I close and then re-open the patcher, I get the stopwatch-looking launcher.

Its a wierd bug that many of us have. LP1 is being replaced by an ancient station pass launcher. A tech person says they don't know why its happening. I used the Full download version of the new launcher from the post in the support section. It works.

This producer's letter points out new ways to use the personal internet sites (twitter, facebook, etc.) to share the game with others but I am assuming that SOE isn't interested in abusing potential laws like S. 968, S. 978 and H.R. 3261 that are in the US congress a couple years from now correct?

More bluntly, as players we need not fear that 2 years from now we're going to get slammed with fines from old posts of gameplay on youtube because you as a company enable and currently support it even if at some future time you choose to retract youtube permissions? In effect, at worst our old posts of EQ2 gameplay on social media sites would be 'grandfathered' in as out on the internet so liability would still be ziltch?

S. 968, S. 978 and H.R. 3261 is in direct opposition to what SOE is trying to do as a company to connect with MORE people. This threat isn't imaginary. Music companies already find ways to slam students with 10K fines for a shared mp3 song at universities regularly to keep the sheep in line.

Not trying to be Dr. Doom, but just checking to make sure we aren't going to be liable in the future for participating in the present.

I use to box all the time, its not like pushing the launcher button again was any hassle at all. Having another exe running behind my game aggravates me, a aggravation I didnt have to deal with before today. Luckly I dont play in full screen but if I did it would pis me off even more.

Soo now if you have the internet open when you close the game, Sony is nice enough to open another tap in your browser for you with the eq2 players site, without your permission.

extra exe you have to close after launching the game = fail

extra tab in your internet browser after closing the game = fail

cant wait to see what fail in game you have in store for me

That web page that pops up when you exit the game has always been there to try and convince you to sub if you're a bronze or silver player. If you're bronze in game you get a popup every so often encouraging to upgrade your sub and if you're silver it's a one time popup. Welcome to F2P.

Well, hopefully it gets cleaned up when they finish with their merging, but I SHOULD be paid up until February and I'm getting redirected. They did at least mention that accounts may not be listing correctly until they're done. I suppose I should go digging and find out if they posted any info on what happens to those of us who purchased a year's sub last tax season.

The lack of communication is difficult to brush off. This reminds me of waiting on the tarmac for 6 hours waiting to take off in airplane, with poor communication of expectations. Its much easier to take the delays when lines of communication are open and we know when servers are coming up. I realize setting definitive time can bottleneck and crash servers, but IMO this is not respectful of your clients and their time when they are left in dark. Im not asking for pinpoint of millisecond servers are coming back up, just a respectful ballpark, and revision if its not met. Saying only 2 or 3 hours delay left from 10:30 pst influenced my decision to hang around, but it actually has decreased my confidence in communication and increased cynicism. I know eq2 understands players take their vacation days when expacs are set to release. This level and quality of information is most unfair to them. it feels to me like being jerked around whereas open and honest communication would just be helpful, EVEN IF IT WAS BAD NEWS ABOUT DELAYS.
