Seems that when I hit 40, I lost my 2-handers.   I just stopped using 2-handed weapons.   It was not intentional, it just kind of happened.   I use a shield and a 1-hander all of the time now.  I cannot say that I miss having a 2-hander or that I plan to get one anytime soon.

Anyone else lose their 2-hander?

Yeah.  I keep one on me in case I'm in a group and not the tank.  But when soloing or acting as a group's tank, I always use a shield.  The few times I've tanked with my 2HS, the difference in damage I take is quite significant.

Like you, I never made a real decision to stop using my 2HS, I just realized that I get my tail kicked a lot slower with a shield.  Even when soloing, I do better with a shield.

I have a lot of Adept III skills including all of my taunts.  I have a tendency to draw a lot of agro.  Often, when I am not officially the MT, I end up being the MT, even when I do not use my taunts.   When a strong mob turns on me, there is no time to swap one weapon for a weapon and a shield.

I stopped using my Two-Handers when I got hold of a fabled axe at level 21, since then I have aquired a rare imbued shield and am not going back, I like the huge difference a shield makes to my Avoidance. For when i hit 30 I have a pair of rare imbued 1 handers (crush and slash) and a rare imbued shield, so I can't see me using a 2-hander much then either.

Never used a Two Hander. I do have the bone bladed claymore in my inventory, but I've only used it once when off tank.  Hated it.  Can't say I've ever bought a two hander.  Oh, there was the herritage thing, but it was green by the time we could use axes SMILEY

I like 2-handers but my avoidance drops and damage increases so much without a shield that it is not worth the risk.   In almost every fight at least one of the mobs is gauranteed to turn on me.

I use both, and as always, it depends on the situation what I use, When soloing tough mobs and when I'm the MT I use shield + SM When raiding (and I;m not the MT) I either use my EBBC or the Royal Great Flail, but that depends on the resists / immunities of the target. When soloing easy mobs I tend to use a 2 hander until I'm low on power, that's when I switch to the SM to get some power back.

I highly recomment u keep a decent 2 hander, specially in a raiding guild.

Remember, when ur not tanking you are DPS. Plain and simple. That 2 hander goes quite a ways in DPS. I have the prismatic 2 hander, the Royal flail, a fabled one hander sword (soul harvester) and a fabled 1 handed hammer (vulcanic metallic hammer?)

The difference between the 2 handers and the one handers is very noticeable. Even in a grp, if your not a tank, you're DPS. As it stands our DPS is good to real good.

All im saying is that throwing away your 2 handers is premature, specially if you plan on raiding.

Even when I do use 2-handers, my highest melee and magic hits are always with 1-handers.   Maybe that is because of group damage buffs.  I also use only legendary 1-handers.

For melee hits weapon damage is added to whatever skill you are using if you are using one.  For a magic hit, I am not sure though I think it may be weapon base damage + magic damage.   At any rate, my highest melee hits are always with a 1-hander.  Look at my profile.

As long as I keep pulling agro off of guardians 4 or 5 lvls higher than me, I will keep using a shield and a 1-hander.   If you look at the Paladin Adept III skills, many of them increase hate as well as damage.   I am constantly adding hate, even without using my taunts, just by hitting MOBs.  Paladin Adept III skills add an extra bonus over the App and Adept I skills, this bonus is often hate or interruption.   These bonuses are important now, they will be more important after the combat upgrade.  The skill I most often draw agro with is Adept III Oath Strike combined with an ebon long sword or battle hammer.   If I try to use my Adept III taunts to finish HOs, they often draw agro as well.

pristine imbued ebon battle hammer + Adept III Oath Strike = lvl 46 Heroic Lizardmen on Eldatur! :smileysurprised:

Eldatur - Shield + lvl 46 Heroic Lizardmen = dead eldatur SMILEY

I don't have this experience with the guardians with whom I group and I use both Sworn Stike Adept 3 and Refusal of Grace Adept 3. But basing your choice upon your experience is the best thing to do. No matter what we all do and or say, when you get aggro when grouping with a guardian and you die when not using a shield, it is advisable to use the shield SMILEY (Living and still doing damage is better dps over the whole fight, than doing more dps in the begin and dieing in the fight)

i think the one thing to note, which uzhiel mentioned, is that it IS advisable to carry around a 2h from 40+ on even if you rarely use it, cause at 50, you WILL want it in at least some raids, and if you sold your 2h Sword of the Ubah, you're gonna be sorry.

Yep i keep weapons for all scenarios... Screaming mace for 1-handed crushing, Scaled scimitair for 1-handed slashing (also carry PGT around and even blood fire aswell), Sparkling Greathammer for 2-handed crushing (not the best but intend to get RGF when it drops) and prismatic greatsword for 2-handed slashing.

so cant really say i lost my 2-handers but its true i probably use screaming mace more then all the other weapons combined.

I'm definitely finding that I'm using a 2H weapon more and more then I ever did pre-40 for the damage output in raids and larger scale epic mobs where my role is much better suited to off-tank. (And yes, I agree I could tank mobs, but I am -much- more useful to the raid off tanking and battlerezzing then I would be MTing and having one of our Guardians trying to Rez mid fight.) :smileywink:
