SK PvP info thread

Hey fellow dark knights! This forum is probably the best class thread I've ever read.

I would like to get a thread going for those of us that PvP with our SK. This thread will be a collection of notes, ideas, and strategies used in PvP.

There are a couple of threads that mention PvP...like the one on Decree of Decay and PvP and the one on 1HS vs 2H

Many skills that have high value in PvE aren't as high in PvP, and stats you would want to max may be different. I don't claim to have all of the answers, but I would put some thoughts down that I have experienced and get some feedback.

Here are some differences that I have noted in PvP:

1) PvP combat happens very, very fast. I have generally not had time to get many skills off before I am dead.

2) Mitigation doesn't seem to count for much at higher levels. But resistances do.

3) People run and I don't have a way to stop them. I am 39 though, so I haven't tested the snare we get in the 40s

4) Taunts work. Rescue works. Thats nice. Unfortunately, it works for the other guy too. So I have had numerous occasions where I have suddenly lost my target and had to re target them. Is there a resist for that?

Some items to contribute.

I am wearing almost all +Wis gear currently. I only have Lucan's Pact (app 4) right now though. I am not sure if I am gonna wait till 44 for the next one before I spend the money on adept3. When I run around in defensive stance with sword n board, I resist *alot*. My resists at 39 seem very high, and the number of times I have resisted an attack (mental, magic, and such) have been significant. I've thought about using the Wis AA line because of that.

Currently I have 5 AA, so I only have the Int to rank 4. I will post info on the smite in PvP once I get it.

What have you guys tried?

Have any of you focused on a particular stat to see how it does in PvP?

Have you laid out the coin/built rare armorsets? (Steel/Feysteel/Ebon so forth) and did it make a noticeable difference in PvP? Or was the mitigation still not significant enough?

Any links to other posts in this forum that we should add?

Im going along the same lines as you im 44 now got the def stance adapt3 and always run about in def stance but im going the int line in aa's got the smite now so i use a 1h and symbol for the extra attack. Im also using the wis/int potions to get the extra stat boosts. I find its best to wait till there in the yellow before using the snare as the times is halfed in pvp still a good skill though. Prob having the same problems as everyone else though if somone decides to run and ht is down its quite hard to kill them if they run.
