My dad and I were considering making a tank/healer duo. We've started a 'zerker/Mystic but quickly find ourselves compelled to the dark side.

If He were to play a shadowknight, which healer compliments SK tanking strategies the best?
I mean, if SK's tank through lifetaps like they do in EQOA then a defilers ward would be minimizing that wouldn't it?

I was thinking a druid type, I hear they use HoTs.. I'm guessing that with several small heals from myself coupled with lifetaps from him would equal out to be a lot of healing.

All this is in theory, I would appreciate any advice. What is your favorite healer? And if you have the time, why?

Thanks much SMILEY

I agree Fury if he doesnt have a fighting style preference.  If he is wavering between being a fighter and priest.  Choose Pally (shudders as he says it).  He can mix it up and both can heal whoever is tanking.  When i put on all my int gear i am a baby wizard.

Furies are good healers, but Defilers do a decent job as well AND they pair nicely with our disease based attacks.

Both SKs and Defilers get disease based attacks and debuffs.   The defilers ablility to slow/cripple mobs helps the SKs slower kill speed too.

Defilers are a really nice complement to our damage as they can also debuff disease and add nicely to the HP pool.

Furies are nice too as they have some nice int/wis buffs that pushes us up too.

However I think I would go defiler, you'll both complement each others damage.

I always found the following to be true.

Fury=ShadowKnight  Warden=Pally  Mystic=Monk  Defiler=Brawler  Templar=Guardian Inquisitor=Berserker

Warden/Fury need just a little help with healing so the pally/SK can help in that area but in return get the nice INT buff and DPS the druids are able to put out.

Mystic's/Defilers Sheilds work very well with the monk because it works when and if the Monk gets hit which is not that often, but when they do get hit, its for a huge amount, thus the sheild is ready to absorb most of that damage.  In addition their debuffs work very well together.

Templars/Inquisitors hare reactive heals that heal for a little per hit, thus require the tank to get hit often, but not the huge amount a monk would get hit for. The temp/inquis spells are just not fast enough to react to the unpredicable way a monk gets hit.

Hey, thanks a lot for all the informative responses. SMILEY After all I've looked up and all the info posted here, I'm leaning towards Fury. I've always played shamans, in EQOA, EQ1, and WoW. I think Fury might be a nice change. I really dig the INT buff idea. Also I hear Furies can actually do some damage, Played my Mystic only to 11 and takes him half an hour to kill something. I believe that extra dmg from the healer might be a good idea for when we can't find DD's (I believe EQ2ers call 'em DPSers).

Anyhoo, I really appreciate the constructive feedback, I half expected someone to yell at me to use the search function. Everything I found when searching was pretty outdated from what I can tell.

I dislike it alot when people ask questions and the resonders get mad and say check the search function.  If you dont like it dont respond.  I never heard this question asked so I was happy to add my 2c

I agree, fury is great, I tanked for a fury guildie that was helping me with AQ, and it was just amazing. I also run a fury, and have great healing abilities, but I find I work best with shadowknights, maybe because my HoTs take a lot of power, so I try not to use them unless I really need to.

This is a very noob question. I started a ShadowKnight on the PvP server. Doesn't the class have some form of self heal?

SKs dont have a heal per se, but it does have a lot of abilities that lifetap. That is sucking life off the enemy to give to you. Its handy but a poor substitue for a real priest type, since you'll need a enemy to use it on, and they'll be doing more damage while you do.But if duoing with someone who enjoys doing more than heals it will give them the freedom to fight a little without continually babysitting your health bar. That's another reason why Furies are great since they can do damage too. To the original poster, I agree with most of the others. Fury or Defiler would be the most fun.

I'm sure you've already made your decision, but I 2Box a SK/Defiler.  They are both lvl 68 atm.  So far I have been extremely happy with this combo.  Besides raiding (Defiler is main) I rarely split them up, I drag them around together everywhere.

I debuff disease with defiler, and all the disease based attacks of my SK hit hard.  Defilers don't have much dps, but there debuffing abilities rock.  Most of the time I put groups together and my SK is MT, so I rarely only duo with these guys.  I am not a dps SK by any means, relying more on my defensive abilities (if he wasnt my 2box and the only toon I played, I'd prob offtank more and go dps/int).  So I rely on getting dps to fill group, or an additional healer to assist me.  But in a pinch I can duo; go totally offensive with my SK, and being the healer, you know exactly what kind of healing your going to need, so easy to switch back and forth between offensive and defensive, even in mid combat if necesary.

I'm sure a fury would be really sweet as well SMILEY  I have a bruiser/fury combo and omg the spike damage with the hot's scares the hell out of me.  Someone said earlier that defiler would be best with monk/bruiser and I totally agree.

Sedona 68 SK on Permafrost/Taos 68 Defiler on Permafrost
