When I made my bruiser, I didn't think of him as a monk. I pictured a bar bouncer type. When he throws punches, they're big roundhouses. When he kicks, they're either big windup from back to front, or a lift the foot and thrust type kicks (sorry if description sucks), outright stomping. I expected him to wear leather type stuff. A muscle shirt, with spiked wristbands, some kind of normal pants, and big, crap-kicking boots. Either no head gear, or outrageous stuff. Motorcyle helmet looking hat with a big ole spike out the top. Stag horns.None of this spinning, kung-fu wave your arms around pirouette when you kick pansy crap. I pictured the bruiser as someone who repeatedly smashes your face into his fist. Crushing overhand thumps on the top of the head. Knockdowns followed by kicks to the teeth, or a stomp in the gut. Even the occassional dirty shot, the knee to the groin, eye gouges, ear pulls, spitting, yelling, biting. Headlocks, tripping, dirt in the eyes, kidney punches.Hidden weapon special attacks, like the knife in the boot, the sap, billy club in the sleeve. No grace, no prancing around all kung-fu like, just pure, unadulterated violence. If I had wanted a monk, I would have been a monk.I picked an Ogre bruiser because I wanted to be a fearsome combatant, who's mere presence would cause lesser enemies to quail. Who's look and demeanor says, I don't care who or what you are, I just want to pummel you! What I got is this pansy looking guy with huge man-[Removed for Content] (in AQ gear), who flails around like he's some kind of human monk.I like the class, but in my opinion, there are some serious look and feel issues to the bruiser.

Well youll get your leather armor in a few levels, and as for our attacks.. meteor strike is fn awesome (graphic wise, still broken though) and burning lunge is a fire kick at groin level , no fancy stuff just a swift kick aimed at de groine, the rest is regular single punches with the exeption of roundhouse which actually is a flimsy kungfu kick , however thats the only one we have (thank god) so youll see diversity compared to a monk when you get a few more levels. And as our class is tailored towards crushing ( Hammerfist ..) fist weapons , youll run around with knuckledusters alot which also adds to the "thug" persona.

No, I know it's not all bad news here, although the level 20 AQ is horrible, at least on an ogre. A kung-fu ogre...gah!Some of the animations are better. I still can't believe I spent money for the Kata. Good god, someone save me from myself. They should replace it for us with a new one...call it Bar Fight. For the most part, bruiser look and feel is merely ok. Eliminate all the kung-fu looking crap, give us some armor that doesn't look like monk crap (I'll scream if I ever equip something, and it's a robe graphic). I loved someone's idea in a different thread...spiked shoulder pads. SMILEY Bracer graphics with spikes and studs.

Holy [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot], spiked wrist bands and wild head gear would be awesome. I'm a female bruiser, but that would still be sweet, haha. My character is a Female, Human, Bruiser set to the shortest height setting. I just thought it would be great for rp'ing, as people would think, awww, look at the cute little lady. Then I bash their face in and stomp them into submission and take their wallet, I mean who needs pick pocketing anyway? =PP.S. Kripes, we are not monks, d@mn it. [Removed for Content] other players still say or refer to us as monks, or evil monks, gah! We don't need no pansy Tranquility, just give me a broken beer bottle!((Nothing against monks, just rp'ing))

When i think bruisers, i think of a big thug with a big club, knocking people over the head with it.
Can you play bruisers effectively with a 2 handed crushing weapon? or do you really bneed to go duel or fists?

It gets better as you lvl...at lvl 50 I only have 1 skill that looks monkish. Flying Kick. Stick with it and it will improve.

It's not repressed...I let it out on unsuspecting mobs who see me coming, and don't think I can tank them. SMILEYI love my bruiser. SMILEY Will be better when, someday, he'll look and have the animations I think he should.

LOL Atonal.  Your post described exactly how I pictured Bruisers when I read the class descriptions long before the game went live.  It certainly would have been neat if there were distinct combat move differences between a Monk and a Bruiser.  Sometimes it's the little things that really makes a person get wrapped up in their characters ... I think this would have been one of them.

Stay away from staves and sticks.  They confuse the idiots.  I stick with my fists.  If I have to use a weapon its either a Sledgehammer or a Greatmace (baseball bat).  As for Bruiser graphics, they couldnt have insulted us more by giving us those monk throwaways.  Hell I would rather wear Tradesman clothes off the City vendors then my own leather armor.  But when I go against green and above I gotta put on the clown clothes.  Looking for some better pants, Tier 5 crafted dont look too cool.

I fell into the stave trap early on. Had a recent wakeup, wondered [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] was I thinking? SMILEY No reason for us not to use anything but fist weapons, save when tanking a high riposte mob, then a 2 hander may be called for.Working on catching up my slashing and piercing skills now. I just wish that examining weapons would tell us which skill they use. Fists and ... ??

You should try Tranquility. It's quite good for your pores.

Oh wait. That's Gnomezema. Never mind... And stop rubbing in the fact that we dun *have* robes, Sir! Well. Robes that aren't stupid Mage robes, anyways.

Yea, the moment I hit 30 I went out and got my Pristine Etched Leather.  Looks much better.  I admit I did keep my AQ armor vaulted though.  If they change it again in the future i wanna see what it looks like SMILEY

we would whip a monks behind in a duel...

just 1-2 fear chains and fight over... everytime. which wouldnt be a head up fight, but then again - even if it was a head up fight - it would be a DPS race on both ends...which we would also win.

:smileyhappy:

Your fears wouldn't land, monk's have high mental resist abilities and we would just stun to you death while we whooped you into submission SMILEY Funny fearing would be your only choice, Face to Face?  Nah, I don't think so, keep dreaming SMILEY

i dont think you are too bright either, so let our dim lights shine, let em shine. let em shine... , and for the record, everything i have said has been said in another forum somewhere by a person with a level 50 toon, and its okay for them to say it. I say the same things every where i go.... but since im not level 50(by choice) or whatever..

i lose all credibility...

but i know for a fact that i was the first person to say alot of things, but simply because "you think i dont know" = its garbage and 1 star incoming?

thats fine - but im not looking for glory and credit - just some common sense and absolution among the class branch so that we can get things RIGHT. whether i spit the truth or some level 50 does.

Because you are ridiculous, assanine, unrealistic, exaggerating and dense.

It has nothing to do with your level.

You'd have no credibility if you were level 200 and we were all on the Isle.

I don't know how to tell you this, but it really has absolutely nothing to do with your level. It doesn't have anything to do with whether you've bookmarked Ardent Legion's website, read a biography of Pathogenn, or Jez, or Zahn, or Skull, or the Buddha, or could have been level 50 two years ago if you hadn't dedicated your life to being a messageboard lurker extraordinare. As for "
i was the first person to say alot of things" well, good work. As long as those things keep including abuse, I'd speculate your days here are numbered.

no, they usually dont include abuse. and apparently you didnt read the line where i said...

anyone who disagrees with the fab 5 of gage and his crew or anyone who doesnt think that soe is always on the up and up about the real issues at hand... gets gagged and beaten and thrown into a trunk never to be seen again.

im just one of the few if not the only one who will stand up on my side of the fence and speak my mind- just like you - just like gage.

so no - i never start the abuse- and if you or gage thinks he can abuse others in a "passive condecending" way, then thats fine with me- but just because i say [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] you and he says forget you and you are an ignorant ingrate with every incling in your body...

im wrong? please opaki=  work with me here..

and for the record - im not a message board lurker exstroadanaire or whatever...

if you must know - i know what you all will say and the can i have ur stuff guy will probably show up, im just waiting to see which direction the class balance goes honestly.

if it goes the generic direction i will take green dragon knights coat tails and leave. without question. and i dont have a problem with saying that because i know a vast majority of players are right behind me on that note.

so yea - me and gage can argue all day everyday. but if you compile all the issues that have been noted = seen - experienced - /bugged a billion times and not fixed, and all the balance issues that have been gutted and over looked. etc.

you come to the conclusion that the archetype system is highly flawed and broken in and of itself.

and if they take the low road of throwing us all into one pot and hoping we taste different at the end, this game is not for me and i want something a bit more interesting. without a problem a fuss or a SOE sucks about it.
