One thing I definitely do not say is “/ooc level < insert level here> DPS LFG!” Yes, as a bruiser I kick out a lot of damage for a tank class, but that is not the only role my bruiser plays. A scout class that knows what they are doing will out damage me easily. A Necro that’s half asleep will out damage me. If you think your bruiser is the groups main DPS you are in for a rude awakening. I ran parser test, I have a Necro and a retired ranger. Our DPS is nice yes, but does not compare to these two other classes.

The reason we are known for our DPS imo is because we out damage other tank classes at the present time. Another thing is, a lot of scouts that I have met have no clue about poisons and how low level poison can add 30 points per hit.

IMO, I think the bruisers are the best tanks in the game currently. I out damage and out tank every other tank I meet, even other bruisers and especially monks! :smileywink:

People on this forum can post all the negativity about our class not being tanks, but the true hard fact is, we are tanks.

That's mostly how I spent lvl 43-50. I mostly only did groups with 1 priest, and with me as tank, and turned down offers to join the oh so boring traditional 2 priests, 1 guardian setups.

I advertise myself as a bruiser when I LFG, however I prefer to tank when I do get in a group if at all possible.  I;ve had to take  back seat once in awhile and DPS a bit until I got an oppritunity to shine after a plate tank has left.  Not everyone belives were tanks jsut yet so they need a little convincing of our skills. :smileywink:

I tanked with my guardian for 50 levels, and I made a bruiser because good is dumb, and I never had a monk-ish in EQ1.But guardians are hands down the best tanks there are IF...see that if? IF they have gear that's up with their level. You might be able to tank blues and evens better than a guardian, but he'll always tank yellows and oranges better. Lets not even mention raids (eek!) I get volunteered to tank so much when I'm on my bruiser it's sad. That's ok though, because I can control groups better than most people I run into can, so If I die I know it's my fault--or my healers, in which case they won't be my healer anymore.Bruisers are awesome dps, and a --pretty good-- tank to boot.*prays for robe of the beguiler*

plate tank has always been, and will be better tank.
yes we can tank but not as well as guardian.

was in group yesterday
37 guardian
31 wiz
32wiz
35 inq
33 bruiser (me using fists)
32 bruiser (using staff)

one of wizzies was running a parser so after 1 fite he posted results
1. wiz
2. bruiser me
3. wiz
4. guard
5. inq
6. bruiser (staff weapon)
sry i cant remember numbers, this was after clay guardian fite in RE wasnt named either so as i remember wiz and me did about 2k+)

u can argue that wizzard could suk, or i just got lucky, and well i guess the other bruiser just didnt know wut he was doing =P
i like thinking of my Bruiser as DPS then a Tank.
also we r great at controlling mobs, Jeer works fine in RE (im not sure if they fixed the mob running into walls thing) and intimidate making other tank's job ezier and dont forget our bouncer that giver 7agl and 33% avoidence to a tank adept 1 :smileywink:

we r more bodyguards rather then tanks IMHO :smileytongue:

thank you.

Bruiser / Monks are good tanks... I have had no problem with thme tanking... However, if the group has 2 tank classes Bruisers have more utility then other tanks...  I'd rather have a bruiser/monk as back up tank then a guardian...  Guardian doesnt really offer much if he isnt tanking...
