I love this class.

I am done with it though and it breaks my heart.

I cannot take another group that says " we'll be ready to go as soon as we find a tank"

This when the healer is a Shammy and I am standing there with 800ac and 1300 hp's at level 23 wearing orange gear in every slot.

I just can't spend my time educating the masses that I encounter that we are tanks.

So I have re-rolled my char as a Warlock.

This class rocks, but SOE sure dropped the ball when they released the game while we were broken.

Nobody has confidence in us.

I am truely sad.

But on with my new char and the best of luck to all of you.

I'm enjoying it...was asked to tank instead of a pali last night after he died and I offered to keep pulling while we waited for him to come back.

Healers didn't want him to tank anymore lol

Personally, I don't consider us tanks. We are DPS. Can we tank? Sure, depends on the mobs in question. I wouldn't leave the class because of other people. If I'm asked to tank I do and see how it goes. If it's just too much damage for me to take then I say might want to get a tank. We may be able to do it sometimes, but really we are there to deal as much damage as possible. Let the big silly Ogre get beat on. I'd rather wow them that it only takes me a few seconds to bring the mob down. Besides, we look really cool doing it!

Bah a warlock , Ive been using a dps parsar and the only class that "consistanly" out dps us is the Assasin.Go back to your bruiser get a dps parsar and show your groups what a machine you are. As for tanking , tank when you are asked and do your best.

Yes, 30+ is when bruisers start to shine, your quiting too early , the way I see myself is DPS with an option to tank, or secondary tank which I have no problem being I actually prefure it cause it gives me the pleasure of just sitting back and grinding, not to mention with Jeer line and intimidate in an outside enviroments adds to the group aren't really a big issue.  I can easily hold my own vs anything a guardian or crusader can tank. Given the right support classes we become [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] near impossible to hit(i.e. bards they own).  Not to mention when not tanking I get a certain satisfaction of putting out more dmg than most scouts and mages, even sometiems while tanking =D.  You have no clue what a bruiser is capable of really doing until you hit 30 and no clue of the insane dmg we can do until 32 33.  I promise that you will not regret stick with a bruiser if you choose to do so.

I've hit 35 now, and I've played DPS, and Tanking roles. Yesterday for instance,  I was grouped with an inquisitor, coercer and a wizard, I was tanking the whole time, We killed lots of group++ guys, including an orange++ (level 39) boss (he had 2 friends too, but not a problem with a coercer), and while it was a difficult fight, it was fun.

Since the new patch we tank very well, we need to keep with our old healing pals though or we are still gonna [Removed for Content] off the clerics! I was tanking just great in EF last night, constant pulls of ++ orange and red mobs and the occasional group of minos that would pop up, hell even tried the brood mother, everthign was going great untill she THEW me halway across the zone, autobreaking the encounter lol, o well sorry to see you leave and join the masses of finger wagglers out there, but dont get me wrong I feel your pain when they say, "we are ready once we get a tank" but heck, forget pickup groups and find a good set of buds out there that knows how your class works!-Tamaran 39 Iksar Bruiser- Gravestone Coven - AB

Good job man, it'll be good to see how you still beat [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] in a few levels!

Good for you Kassel!

I am currently 32 and loving it more and more...to be honest with you, the whole 20's were kind of a funk stage where I felt like I had lost my ability to tank (as I was doing before).

I especially remember 20-25 being the hardest part of the whole 20's ordeal. Things really start to change around 30 and you will definitely start to notice a nice damage increase as well as more blocks, deflection, parries. Although, when you do get caught in a particularly nasty hit, it will sting.

Look for items that give + to agi, the more the better!

Wow, you're a wuss.  I went from 1-50 as strictly DPS, tanking when necessary.  Can we tank?  Yes.  Is it as efficient as an SK / Guardian?  No.  Healers use more mana, and it requires us to be in defensive which reduces DPS.  If you wanted to be a pure tank you shouldn't have been a brawler.

It such a shame when people who play a class give false information. Monks and Bruisers are some of the best tanks in the high end game. Hell at any level if you get the right equipment and know how to play well.

Umm...I dunno how you played your Bruiser but we (Bruisers) are one of the best tanking classes in eq2. I get compliments all the time on how well I tank. Most healers are supprised at how much MORE efficient than other tanks.  Hell, Id be suprised if we dont get nerrfed. We can tank as well or better than other tanks, and we do scout like dmg if not better. We have the best of both worlds.

I am a wuss?

No I just want to play the game like the class description says.

I played a pally in EQ1 and a Beastlord in EQ, I was Time flagged and retired with well over a million pp.

Am I a quitter?

Not generally.

My thought was that I wanted to be the best of both worlds " a good tank with martial abilities" so to speak.

Gee isn't that what we are supposed to be?

Instead I have a Guardian 4 levels lower than me wearing crappy gear insisting he tank because he is a Guardian while we have a Shammy healer and good DPS besides me.

Worst part is the Shammy thought the Guardian should tank too /boggle.

I am just glad EQADAM wasn't there because he would have said the same thing I am sure.

Brawlers are the best tank you can put with a Shaman healer.

If YOU don't understand it, how on Earth are other classes going to?

Frustration got the best of me when I should have been stronger in my first post.

I'll see the rest of you guys at 50.

and I will do it my way.

The reason most pickups get someone else to tank then a bruiser/monk is cause they are more stable and requires less maintenance, a bruiser/monk is dependant on good buffs and preferabbly a shaman as main healer for us to truly good tanks, take away agi buffs and no shammy in the group and were truly not the most effective tank. And of course the vice versa is true, with good agi buffs and a shammy were among the best especially against single multi arrow mobs or duos with single arrows. Thats our forte so to speak, The other tank classes that rely on armor doesnt need agi buffs or wards they are solid stable tanking platforms no matter who's main healer or what buffs are available, thats one of the main reason i dont get to tank very often, it happens now and then but if your a bruiser and really want to tank at all times you have to be very choosy how the group is built or you wont be very sucessfull, or only play in a static group enviroment (guilds rl friends etc) that can provide you with those 2 crucial elements to tankage (agi+wards)

I have a static group setup and my buds often say that i tank better then heavy armor users, however i told em yesterday to drop agi buffs (trouby buffer) in Obelisk of lost hope and our shammy and inquisitor couldnt keep up with the heals i was loosing my hp that fast, that made them realise that the reason i tank well in our group is because i got over 230 agi buffed at 38 without those agi buffs i was just a mana sponge, and a much worse tank then any heavy armor tank. Its been said over and over again and i will stress it one more time, if you truly wish to tank as much as possible as a bruiser then get every agi raising item you can as well as go all the way agi in trait choices.

LOL you are impulsive... delete your char? why not just keep him for an alt later.Anyway, what are you waiting for, some group to come to you, invite you, and then say 'our troubles are over, here is our saving grace in the form of an uber tank'?You've got to define your own success. Usually if I'm not invited within 30 seconds of putting lfg on I just make a group. In my groups I am always the tank. There is never anyone to doubt because noone gets the chance. People get invited and I simply say 'get ready' and begin pulling, telling the group where we're going and what we're going to fight. No one has ever once said 'we need to get a tank' and 99% of the time people comment its the best group they've ever been in.Now if I join a group and they already have a plate tank, theres no bruised ego. As long as their armor is up to date and they can hold agro I will have just as much fun in DPS mode, using my stances on the MT to block for him so he is even better.Seriously.... if you join a group and you are the only fighter, simple say 'I am the tank' and begin pulling / tanking. No one will question it if you know what you're doing.
