Well we all know that monks in EQ 2 rarely look like actual monks, as there are very few Gi choices, and one cannot simply wear lesser Gi's until they find a better Gi upgrade. So why cant we always look like actual monks/brawlers wearing our combative Gi's? The simple answer is we can!I propose that they add an option in the user interface for us to selcet a Gi and choose "set as character appearance." What this would do is to allow us to wear whatever leather armor we choose but APPEAR to be wearing the selected Gi. To everyone around us we are wearing our martail arts Gi's and kicking butt, but in reality we are wearing are usual hodgepodge of gear. What do you guys think that play these classes? If you respond= "BAD IDEA, THEY JUST NEED TO ADD MORE GI'S," then please dont waste this threads time with your post, as that has been asked TONS of times, and they are NOT just going to add over 20 Gi's oneday. Allthough i really wish they would. In the meantime however lets hope this idea takes root so we can at least look like the cool martial artists we are! =)

We have been talking about this in Monk global channel lately and we have thought Monk'ish appearance might just came with "cloak" slots. Such as Gi of the Ashen Disciple (rest Gi's not really appealing)Anyway, then we thought, our class has much more problems / bugs / issues to talk about instead of cosmetic changes and how "lady" monks look around and sick of people who picked monk just to wear Gi just to reveal their female chars.

I know there are major bugs with the class, mainly raid mobs and avoidance issues, but stuff like that is a huge change and will take SoE a long time to implement correctly. So for now I just like to focus on the litle things like the Gi appearance (allthough I am still waiting on the avoidance issue). The problem is too that if the fix avoidance for raid mobs, we will still have to worry about being possibly one shotted when we are hit due to the lower mitigation. I actually thought of a fix for this. WAY too many MMO's focus on raid bosses that hit very slow but VERY hard. What about (after avoidance is fixed) some raid bosses are added that hit lightning fast, but not as hard, so a brawler would actually be the prefered main tank against those bosses? It might work. What do you think?

Eh, I had a long post written out talking about SoE resources and how the departments are seperate, but it got eaten :l. At any rate, I know your post said not to post if my answer was add more Gis.. but the easiest way to make monks look like monks is well.. add more Gis :l.

Allowing a character to simply select how his/her equipment should appear to others takes away the whole excitement (or most of it) of attaining equipment at all, and the thrill of "how will it look?" I don't think that this is a good solution to the problem... the only solution is really to add more gi's... and until then I'll just look like... well, like, I dunno, a guy wearing some leather stuff. :smileyhappy:

It is not about raid mobs, it is about "TO-HIT" values lately added to many heroics as well.

I too disagree with the Gi "Illusion"... I kind of like the hodgepodge look and if I have gi.. I would rather get the look of that then wear an illusion 24/7

Not too mention theres a lot of folks who don't think the Gi's look very good to start with. I don't like them and tend to shy away from them from an appearance stand point.

![]() Bad idea. There are plenty of easily obtained Gi's out there. Most gratifying moment i've ever had in game was looting the Gi of The Dark Disciple - after a long time busting my butt just to get a fabled Gi, I got it - and got a server discovery on it. I would however like to see a Fabled T7 Gi pop up somewhere on PvE servers so I can continue to play for something - even if the stats are not up to par on what I already have. I hope SOE Motivates me soon.

My suggested solution is to give monks and bruisers a bare chest bonus that works like the bare fist bonus they already have. It would almost always be better to wear a chest peice but it would not be mandatory. This would effectively turn every pair of pants a monk can wear into a shirtless Gi.

There are plenty of Gi's ingame, especially when compairing to unique looks for all other classes then brawlers, I do think there should be a fabled t7 Gi tho.

![]() Well the females wouldn't be naked like the men. The females would still have that undershirt they always wear when they don't have a chest peice equiped. All I am suggesting is that Bruiser and monks get a little bonus for not a wearing a chest peice. This is not a graphical change from what is already in the game but stat change.
