Ok Guys Abyssmal Tidings here lvl 27 Shadowknight has seen the light and decided to switch to a brawler... got my brawler to lvl 16 and now I am forced to chose bruiser or brawler... and for the most part i cannot make up my mind. The way I see it it boils down to this.. I tried looking through the forums but the search function always tells me try again later and after 4 or 5 pages deep of both monk and bruiser boards i cant reallyh find a good comparison of the two?   please feel free to post your opinions as im all ears and Truly Thank you in advance for all the help

Bruiser +'s
   More DPS
Dont have to goto Qeynos with all the treehuggers and over sappy  text
   Kooler Theme

Monk +'s
    Invis
    Targetable mend
    Tiger Form
    Better Tanking???

well so heres my questions
how much more dmg does bruiser do than monk? 10% more? 20% more? 40% more?
How much better at tanking is a monk than a bruiser?
who is a more eficient soloer? monk or bruiser?

Im a 27 monk, and have only seen Bruisers in action in groups. Basically the bruiser seems to do a bit more damage than I do, but when I get hit its usually for less damage and less often, but since im only level 27 its not THAT much of a differance.  Its really going to be your own choice, a Bruiser is mainly offensive, a monk defensive. The group buffs (as they are) reflect that.  I have always played a monk (EQ1) and am continueing the tradition.  However I would say the single most factor that would sway me to pick monk is Wind Walk (Invis) it is VERY useful.  I even went as far as to create an Iksar and do the betrayal quest. Its really personal choice.

As for soloing... well.. dont plan on soloing whites. Blues maybe depending on your gear. I'm told bruisers dont fare much better with soloing, but haven't watched a Bruiser solo so....

A Shaman at my level is a MUCH better soloer. Hell my level 17 mage solo's better than I could at his level. (whites easily).  If your after soloing only you'd be better off as caster class.  /ducks the flames.

You speaking of soloing white ^^ mobs?  Because i can still do green ^^ at lvl 26, and solo mobs I can do even easy enough.

As for the difference in defense and offense it is minimal , a monk will tank as well as a bruiser does DPS and a bruiser will tank as well as a monk does DPS.

Mend is helpful at times, saved the tank a time or 2 if I am back up.  Invis is very very useful.  I have done a fair amount of exploring and quests using it.

And i hate freeport.  Just a plain pit of crap really. SMILEY

soloing green^^ at 29.  not really efficient as you can't kill them all that fast but they don't really hit you anyways.

I use my skills, use my gear.

Brawlers stance, then Martial Focus, then 10 seconds later pop Face of the mountain, wait and pop Martial focus again.  Conserve your energy, do not burn it all up in the 1st 20 seconds of the fight, use HO's and usually rapid strikes.  Best bang for your buck.  If you are getting hit too much, then you need + agi, but by the end of the fight I usually have full health, but no power.

Granted im not uber high ( 25 bruiser ) but I have no problem soloing yellow ( solo) mobs . and green ^^ arent too much harder. The main problem I have is if there are two mobs , then I start taking damage like an eq1 ranger in karnors.
