The normal server (crushbone) launches just fine from the launchpad.

Did this just start happening for you? And do you get an error message from the crash?

I downloaded the beta yesterday so yes this just started happening to me Smile *edit* No, no error messages.

I followed your instructions in another thread (quoted here)

And when launching from the launchpad, the launchpad either crashed before attempting to open the beta or it opened the beta for a brief moment and then the beta crashed. So I decided to try launching the beta directly from the exe and it started up just fine.

I'll PM you my DXDiag_32 in a bit.

One thing to check, Wurm: make sure you aren't selecting a toon in the Launcher (just click "Play", then choose your toon in Character Select). Beta server doesn't like you telling it what toon you want before it loads. :^)

Not selecting any toons in the launchpad Smile but it crashes everytime. Using the exe works just fine though.

Bummer...was hoping it was an easy one. Did you copy the D3D[blah] files over to your beta directory? This is my last suggestion, sadly...if this isn't the trouble, I'll have to cede the floor to more capable folks.

[I posted a quick 'how to' for Test a while back about it...just replace "TestServer" with "BetaServer", of course :^) ]

If it was a Direct X problem it wouldn't start at all, it runs fine on max settings and other than the crash when zoning into the new area bug (which has happened a total of 2 times since I started beta) I haven't had any issues at all.
