Hello Guardians

I just undertook a project of learning your class, for a posisble alt and to answer questions for some buddies of mine. I play a 36 guardian on and off in addition to my dirge, at the moment.

I seek your input on my list of guardian skills by spell line. A line to me is defined as skills that share the same timer. Thus, at level 50, you would use the most powerful skill in that line. If a skill does not share a timer with another skill, it is, to me, its own line, and thus is possible to use at level 50 (such as Hold the Line).  All yellow highlighted spells are thus the "peak" of their line, and could be used back to back with any other yellow highlighted skill on your hotbars at level 50, with no timer conflicts.

My list is based near entirely off the work done by Marianna, the OP of http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=3&message.id=4789  - I thought of posting this as a reply to his, but do not want mixed feedback on the thread, confusing all. Also thanks to Noah whose comments in many posts have been insightful.

Here is my list. It is generated simply from Excel, so I can easily make updates. If I feel I have a finalized version, I will post the Excel file itself for download. It may prompt for ActiveX yada yada, simply decline it is not needed to view the document.

This document also is designed to allow you to mark if you have App, Adept, or Master 1,2,3, etc for each spell. This will be more useful once the list is finalized and I post the Excel sheet.

I am primarily concerned with:
  • Are any of the spells listed in a "line" acutally on their own timer?
  • Are there any other, non-highlighted skills that you would use at level 50?
  • Would you change the description of the skill?
  • Would you advise the use of a lower level skill over a higher level one? (i.e. Shouting Cry for raid mobs)

Or if you know a better resource that has already been developed to track skill upgrades in a spell line format like this, let me know.

I look forward to any and all input - thanks!

Updates
4/13/05 - Now more readable! Comments below and my own research included. Reformatted the first page to just have spell lines and descriptions. Spell tracking to come once list deemed complete.
4/14/05 - Better spell descriptions from eq2players.com (meaning more feedback needed to ensure accuracy). All input through edit time 4/14 included.

Noticed a couple things that needed to be changed.

1.  Slam, Crush, and Retaliate are all on different timers and can be used one after another.

2.  Blast is on the same timer as Crush.

Although it does not have the same timer, Hunker Down is in effect on the same line as Call of Command.  The benefits are the same and they do not stack.  Once you get Call of Command at level 24, you no longer receive any benefit from using Hunker Down.

note: Do Or Die, Battle Tactics and the level 40 Trait Braksans's can be stacked(HP wise) if you wait for timers to expire.  Total duration fo rthe stacked buffs ends up being 8ish min.   For me its somewhere around 900HP total.

Return to Battle is also same timer but stacks with ALL of the above.  At 50 I can raise my hps by about 1500 using all 4.

This is great =) I have only been playing for 3 weeks and have just started a Barbarian Guardian (boy she is a big girl!) as a break from my 19 Cleric.  I was looking around for something along these lines - its shows more clearly to me how the class progresses.  Just looking at the Sony spell lists give me a headache =/

Thanks you both Hizashi and Mirianna for the information.  I found this while looking for a tool to help me with creating hotbars while mentoring.  This information is very valuable.  Cheers   :smileyhappy:

If you could please update your list as you have True Strike listed as lvl 25 when it is a lvl 26 ability.  I just checked last night

Good Work! One note:Call to Arms, Guardian's Call, and Call to Battle no longer stack and now take one point of concentration.
