I got a chance to look at the Collector's edition items that would be available in the DL edition of Scars of Velious.

As a Plat. member from last year and it being the first time I had been a Plantinum member and entitled to a free download of the next expansion, I thought I would ask if there is some way that the Plat. download will be upgradeable, in some fashion, to the Collector's Edition.

Thanks!

In the past Fan Faire attendees have not been allowed any upgrades from their free copy.

Thanks for the answer. Kind of dissappointing, but an answer's an answer.

I guess if I want the "snacks" I can pay for it.

(hmmn.. couldn't edit my last post.. )

Is the free download considered a pre-order, at least or will I need to pre-order for those extras?

(Sorry, probably stuff I should have asked last year... )

For those who might be reading this thread, I went to try and pre-order the Collector's edition via my Station account and both the regular *and* the collector's edition were "Activated".

(again, as I posted initially, I'm a newbie to this whole Platinum member thing)

So it looks like they *already* are giving us the Collector's edition.

Easy-peasy... At least now we know.

Don't bet on that.  Per Amnerys on the EQ2 forums:

Amnerys wrote:

Collector's Edition for digital is new, I believe. However, I'm pretty sure that it will be Standard for Fan Faire attendees. Such is the way it's always been. The value of the standard digital and the standard retail are the same, and the Collector's isn't the same value.

I know in another thread players were hoping for Collector's as the Fan Faire gift since it's digital this year, and I'm still going to verify, but if I had to place a bet, I'd go with standard. Absolutely our Fan Faire attendees are loyal players, and the gifting of the EQ and EQII expansions is something Smed came up with back in 2008 at Fan Faire, on site. Once we got back we had to figure out how to make it happen, hehe. Since we grant the same for EQ ("the next expansion"), and they don't have a digital Collector's Edition for EQ, it doesn't seem fair that EQII players would get a higher-valued version.

And, after all, even employees only get the standard edition if we decide to download a copy. And I'd say we're pretty loyal. (I worked over 8 hours yesterday on the holiday "day off". Day off? Hah!)

As of Friday she was still waiting for official confirmation of what FF attendies would get, and if there'd be any way for us to upgrade to CE if we're getting standard.

Well, after all that, I can live with $20.00 for the upgrade! SMILEY

It went from being both activated, to just the standard activated.

Then we got this benevolence?

Only fitting Ammy' got to post the $20.00 upgrade post.

(Thanks for putting in a good word for us, by the way. )

I wasn't activated for either

edit:  On the other hand, I've enjoyed Fan Faire percs through the CC for a couple years, and I don't mind ponying up $20 for a change.

It was only for pre-orders of DoV.
