Turn all the Shattered Lands overland zones back to heroic.

If you're going to promote grouping (which is awesome), being cramped up in a dungeon is too confining and boring (and besides, it's going to be crowded in there!).

Let's have heroic scarecrows in Antonica again, make Giant's Highway in TS a place to be feared. The Archer's woods in Antonica back to a really nice spot to group with friends.

Yes I agree there but they also need to get rid of the grouping plenty too.  Both of them probably would work and encourage grouping again.  Maybe.

Let's discuss this over on flames, okay? Because there I'll be free to explain the shortcomings of your idea using language that will leave no doubt as to the problems with this concept and what you should do with it.

Here, I'll simply inform you that the change you have suggested would benefit no one, would not solve any problems, and would make a bad situation even worse.

I would be all for his idea, just because you don't like 3-up mobs roaming around and epic orcs killing players, doesn't mean us other vets don't want it back! I have complained about the change since day one of them making the overland zones so carebear.

What would be so wrong as to offer a different path of leveling?

The "Golden Path" for questing is old, terrible, and extremely boring. These old Shattered Land zones are barely in use (seeing as the Golden Path takes players AWAY from them).

Antonica: 7 people

Commonlands: 5 people

Thundering Steppes: 3 people

Nektulos Forest: 7 people

Enchanted Lands: 7 people

Zek, The Orcish Wastes: 1 person (me)

Lavastorm: 5 people

Everfrost: 4 people.

These zones are totally underused. The EverQuest franchise was BUILT on players working together, venturing through overland zones. Partying, building friendships, community...all that good stuff.

I would love to have antonica and all the other old zones restored to their former glory!

Whats the fun in a zone if you can just sprint through and one-shot everything, the overland zones need heroics back!

I still never understood why they changed it in the first place, and would be thrilled for them to chagne it back.

I would hate this as I level up solo, going through all the content I can.

This would be in the form of an alternate way of leveling.

If you prefer questing, you'll have your quest zones.

If you prefer grouping and camping, you'll have some options for that as well.

All zones are quest zones.  This change would take away zones from me.

Mercs are like instant groupmates, most of the time in those early zones I was with only one other person, selected from the /lfg list.  It was only boss type mobs in overland zones that took more, like the fairy queen in Nek that took more than a guardian and dirge in quested gear because of the number of mobs, had to go with a healer.. and no-doz because it was a long fight.

As a "bard" I soloed an epic X2 group when it was blue.  With AA's and mercs, it would never be like it was anyway.

I never said get rid of the quests.

I'm saying turn those zones back into heroic overland ones. You would still have your 3 quests in Antonica to do, so it will be okay.

I would love overland zones to be returned to having heroic encounters - and I am an alt-o-holic that solos most of the time. My characters usually have no issues taking down white and yellow con ^^^ heroics so the current state of things is terrible. The developers doubled up on simplifying the game years ago - they increased character power and nerfed the mobs. Either one or the other would have enabled easy solo play. As everyone would scream if they nerfed the characters, it would seem that re-invigourating the mobs would be the way to go.

If you want to do "all of the content" you need to "xp lock" or you will out level everything. If you do that you will have plenty of aa points to be able to take on heroic encounters solo.

@loladen - 3 quests in Antonica? - my alts pick up the achievements for 50 + quests in those old zones to this day, so there are a lot more than 3. (iirc eg Agent of Antonica)
