Unexpected Consequences

This new quest is bugging out for me.  I can't get past the step, "follow the strange raven."  I hail the raven and follow him to Ghostclaw, and he tells me to meet him out in Thundering Steppes.  When I go out to TS where he's suppose to be ( beastlord prelude event), he's not there.

NM...just deleted and started over.  The raven didn't update the first time around when he stopped at Ghostclaw.

Ah, okay.  I was just about to pop in to get some more information to see if I could find out what happened. 

Actually, he SHOULD pulse the update, as long as you're nearby.  If it happens again, just hang out there a second and it should update for you.

Same thing is happening to me - I spoke to Ghostclaw in Qeynos and then went to TS like it says and quest still says 'Follow the strange raven' and no ghostclaw in TS

Not sure if it is a clue, but there were a couple of people following the same raven. Have gone back to qeynos and sat by ghostclaw for a while - no update, went back to Erus Dal'viv and not getting another raven to follow.

Okay so, I just came on here to talk about this, because the issue has come up now that MANY people are looking at the quest rather than just a few on QA and Test.

So, what is happening is that the raven that spawns is hailable by anyone, but will only update for the one who actually spawns him.  I actually thought I had that covered, but it wasn't working as intended. 

I'm submitting a fix now for three things:

1. You will only be able to hail YOUR raven.  NO MORE RAVEN STEALING OMG.

2. Both Erus and Ghostclaw will respawn the raven in case you two somehow get separated.  The raven has a two minute life (roughly), so if yours gets bugged, just wait a minute or two, and you'll be able to spawn another raven.

3. I'm getting some reports of ravens spawning under the ground (like a landshark, but with RAVENS).  I'm going to tweak his spawn a bit so he pops up a bit higher, which will hopefully prevent that from happening.  If if does however, you'll be able to respawn him.

Again, sorry about this - a lot of this didn't come up during testing, but I'll get these fixes in straight away.

Thx Cronyn.  Yep I did it again with a different toon and now I know how it is suppose to work. What you described is exactly what happened to my first toon. Someone else hailed the raven it started moving and I followed. Therefore I did not get the update since I never hailed the raven in Qeynos before it started moving.

How do you know which raven is supposed to by yours?  Peeps just grabbing them... =/

The first two times I did this I didnt realize it was intended that I hail the raven to take 'ownership' to proceed.  Someone else did, and I followed, and still got the update anyway..

Yep - hard to know - 3rd time trying... Someone hailed my raven before I could get it again.

this quest will not update with the raven in thundering stepps.  i see some people getting it.. mostly Qs.

Same exact problem in TS with the raven, if someone else hails yours then when you follow it to Ravinus - he will not talk to you.

I was stuck at Ravinus in TS. When I gave up and zoned back home, the quest auto-updated, and I was then able to talk to Ravinus. You might try that until they get the fix in. Glad I didn't delete the quest before zoning.

-EDIT: It seems it may have been SOE Customer Service that updated the quest step for me - I /petitioned it in game. It may have just been a coincidence that it happened while zoning.

Glad they are hotfixing this today. Had the same thing happen to me yesterday, someone else poached my raven. I also noticed that, depending on where you are standing when you talk to Ghostclaw after exiting the instance, some of the ravens were spawning underground or in the mountain behind Ghostclaw (if you were standing behind him because the ravens spawn behind where your character is).

No worries - I'm happy to help!  I just want to make sure you're having fun, and the ravens were making it far less fun.

Oh, quick disclaimer - the ravens can still pop in the ground if you hail Ghostclaw in the wrong place.  The fix I tried didn't look very good, so I'm leaving it out.  If this becomes a stopper for you guys, I have something else I think that will work, but it requires a bigger fix, so I was a little apprehensive to doing it for a quick hotfix.  Probably something I can roll into the next update, if you guys think it's needed.

Anyway, I'll be checking in on this thread today, so let me know if this is working for you guys, or if you hit any other problems.  Have fun, all!
