![]() Hi guys and gals. As the title suggests, Im a new player, although not totally new to EQ2, I played for about an hour a year ago, and want to make a serious go of it this time.I'm looking for what I would call an "offensive support class" - one that is primarily on the offensive, rather than healing or tanking, but can contribute to buffing/debuffing or healing as required. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dhamp |

![]() The Inq is a plate wearing priest class that can do amazing dps. So I'd say try an Inq and tweak it for offense and use the healing when needed. I'm not sure EQ2 has the exact class you're looking for. |

![]() I looked at Fury when I played originally - it seems to be along the lines, but felt a bit lacklustre - I may just have been playing wrongly though. Are there any other similar classes - perhaps more "magey"? |

![]() Their are four classes that will do specifically what you requested: Dirge, troub, illusionist, coercer. Anyone of these four classes will pretty much get you a raid spot too - maybe not in your guild of first choice but generally speaing any casual guilds will snatch you up. You can then gear up and improve your playing ability and move up the guild ladder rank too.

![]() Well, if you want DPS healing then the Inquisitor or the Mystic will be your choice. I have them both , though I play my mystic more, and wards are nice. My main is a Coercer. The enchanter classes, Coercers and Illusionists are going to net you a raid spot easily as well as provide you the ability to DPS, however you have to remember that you are a utility class, meaning you are there to power feed/ debuff/ provide support as your main function and the DPS is secondary. Dirge/ Troub - Pretty much the same boat as the chanter classes, except scouts. They are able to melee and a good bard can dps decently, however the buffs they provide enchance the performance of the group. These will also get you a spot in a raid if you are good, however they are going to be more gear dependant than the chanters imo. You can usually get mage gear easier than scout gear in raids, due to the reitimization of the raid drops that sony did a while back so it will take longer to gear up a scout. |

![]() You can also look towards something like necromancer if you are playing small groups. They can necro heal and raise the dead, provide hearts if people really need em, and have decent occasional buffs via elemental toxicity. Furthermore, you can swap out your main pet to be more dps or tank focused if your playing solo or in small group. |

![]() If you are not looking to a be relied upon for healing, despite suggestions in this thread, don't roll any of the priests. Yes some of them can do very good damage however their job in a group is healing at the end of the day & DPS is something you do when you don't need to heal, cure or debuff. The way things are set up in Eq2 however, most of your priests do double duty on the debuffing & healing/curing. 4 of the six also do some pretty decent dps if they set up for it. Their primary job however, is the healing/curing and priests who don't want to do their primary job are generally frowned upon. Paladins are tanks who have a couple heals, but like the priests, they have their primary job (tanking) and if you don't want to be in a tanking role, it's best just not to roll a tank. As Vlahkmaak said, dirge, troubador, illusionist & coercers are very specifically support classes with offensive capabilities that will not ever put you in the situation where you are relied upon to be the primary healer or tank. Necromancers are a nice pet class & have some utility. I think the same is true for Conjurers though I think to a lesser extent. There are also the Beastlords, but any utility they have is tied to the pet. Brigands and swashies have some debuffs, but focus more on dps. |

Very good advice and please take it to heart. I have an Inq/ Mystic/ and Warden. All 3 max level/ AA and at various stages of gear levels (Mystic is fully raid geared and I have raided with her, warden is my primary BG toon and Inq is a fun toon that I just play around with) All 3 are good at DPS and Healing in various stages. However if you are putting out 200k+ DPS and your group is dying, you are doing it wrong. Your primary focus will ALWAYS be Heal/ Cures then DPS. Mystics/ Inq get some healing based on the dps they do with procs etc, but not enough to justify the over DPS vs healing. |

![]() And thinking about it some, Necros are a good class in the fact that they have 1) Heals, 2) Rezzes 3) very good dps if you play them right 4) are mages so should be easy to get gear in raids. A necro may be the type of class that you are looking for tbh. |
