When the TT island first came out, I bought one. After various attempts at creating a castle, a fortress, and a farm (in that order), I finally settled on a farmhouse minus the farm.

It is up on the Leaderboards as "The Tudor Farmhouse," under the Hall of Fame on the Antonia Bayle server.

The house was built with roleplay in mind--most of the seating is usable, the furniture is set up so that you can run around it without running onto it, and there's lots of space for personal details!

For those interested in the process I went through to build the house, I have a blog entry up here.

Those who wish to see a video tour may click here. Jaedrian of PUGTV was kind enough to film a tour of the house alone, as his original tour of the Farmhouse was part of a three hour video.

For those interested in purchasing the layout to this house, please click here! The information is located on the second page, but clicking here is faster

Approaching the farmhouse.

The front yard.

The foyer, as seen from the living room doorway.

The kitchen breakfast nook. Most of the seats at the nook are actually usable with /sit or /sitc for medium or small races. I didn't test with a large race. The short end of the couch isn't usable (the geometry of the table won't allow you to actually sit your butt on the cushions) but the long end and the bench are!

The kitchen portion.

The living room. As with the kitchen nook, all of the seating is usable.

The bathroom, or "AFK room" as I've been told they're sometimes called. A great place to run to and leave yourself if you  have to go AFK in the middle of roleplay! "Uh, I'm sorry so-and-so. Please entertain yourself and make yourself at home while I run upstairs to use the necessity. ((Sorry guys, dinner just finished cooking, and I'd like to eat it while it's hot hot hot! Be back in a few.))"

And lastly, the bedroom!

It's quite possible the vanity took more items than any other structure in the house (aside from the house itself). It wasn't until I'd used 32 items that I had a vanity I was willing to keep!

Thank you for taking the time to enjoy my little screenshot tour. I left out quite a few details (such as the linen closet in the foyer. Visitors seem to like that, for some reason), but I've put up enough to give you a taste of my version of a TT house.

Edited to add a couple more screenshots!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped me with this. Zhadowsee and Sensqui, for being willing to drop everything and give me feedback on this or that tiny detail. Rakuno, for stopping by periodically and encoraging me. Everyone in Homes and Tomes for their willingness to bounce ideas back and forth (and especially Froggen and Hopsalong for their help getting the beams on the exterior just right!). The members of That Secret Decorating Channel for being wonderful. Gracey, for the dishrack and faucets that I er... borrowed and gave my own touches to. And anyone who helped to get me materials. I really couldn't have finished building this without all of you. I would have given up after less than a week.

Happy decorating!

Jazabelle

Wow, that is very, very nicely done! You've really managed to capture a Tudor exterior. And I love your attention to detail, like the crown molding in the foyer and the little metal trim on the glass in the AFK room. Its the little things like that that really make the difference. Truly excellent work!

This is incredable.  Jez, you always find a way to kick it up another notch.  My wife wants the floor plan and layout to build as a Sim3 house.

My favorite thing about this is that there was something I had never seen before in litterally every room. That wonderful shower knob is just brilliant! I loved the custom desk in the bedroom. And I got such a kick out of your rule books. Such awesome work! Really inspiring!

This house is really amazing! Everything about it. I'm in love with the exterior details! The entry was great, I thought the storage closet was fabulous. The attic hatch in the kitchen is just too cute! But, I'm most in love with the bathroom. The toilet is great and the shower is beautiful!

Making thick walls is a brilliant idea. You can hide so much stuff in there (like the freeport candle used as a keyholder - so clever). Everything is in the little details and the finishing touch (the kitchen faucet, the knife holder, the toilet, the mixer tap in the shower etc). This is great great work!

I am still impressed by the whole architecture of this place. It is a house that I could easily see existing in real life with people living in there.

I didn't know about people using the bathroom excuse to go AFK while roleplaying though... Which makes me wonder how people interpret it if the player has to go AFK for say... 30 minutes. While the player is AFK all that time the character is inside the bathroom....

Bad attempts at jokes aside, I am glad you finished your house and thankful that you let me take peeks at it while it was being built. Once again an amazing work. SMILEY

Thank you for all of the kind comments. To those of you who have expressed a desire to crate or otherwise give up on your own homes--please don't. My inspiration comes from all over the forums. Remember that we all have to start somewhere, and if you can walk into my house and come out of it with ideas for your own, I've done my job properly. If I can walk into your home and walk out with ideas for mine (and I often do, no matter the skill level of the decorator--it's the IDEAS that matter) then even better! Practice makes perfect in decorating as with everything else. Keep practicing!

You will find information for the purchase of this house layout below. My apologies for the number of screenshots, I wanted people to be able to see what they were thinking of buying.

This house was furnished with the roleplayer in mind. Chairs are useable, couches are useable, and benches are useable. There's room for your own personal touches. Go crazy!

Most rooms in the house have between two and three versions available.

Version 1 is simply an empty room. It is a blank canvas, waiting for you to build whatever you wish inside of it.

Version 2 is a furnished room, but lacks personal details.

Version 3 is a fully decorated room, including little knicknacks scattered around. Version 3 is only available for some rooms. Version 3 rooms require both the items from the Version 2 list and the Version 3 list.

ALL ITEMS ARE PROVIDED BY YOU. If you need me to provide items, speak to me and we will work out a deal. Prices listed are for the layout with your materials. There will be additional charges for materials provided by me.

The base house structure (version 1 in all catagories) is 100pp.

If you wish the interior decorated, the additional charges are listed below.

If you have any questions about the pricing or the items, please feel free to contact me either via PM on these forums, in-game mail, or /tell.

While I have included the item lists below, I will also include an item list when you contact me about what rooms you want. Don't worry, you won't have to add things up yourself. I'll merge the layouts you request and pull up a manifest for you.

Example: I wish to buy a house (100pp). I wish the exterior to be fully decorated (Version 3: 1pp). I wish the foyer to be furnished, but not decorated (Version 2: 5pp). I wish the kitchen to be fully decorated (Version 3: 10pp). I wish to decorate the living room myself (Version 1: 0pp). I wish to have the bedroom, vanity included (Version 2: 10pp). I wish the bathroom to be fully decorated (Version 3: 5pp).

100pp house

1pp exterior

5pp foyer

10pp kitchen

0pp living room

10pp bedroom

5pp bathroom

Total of 131pp

Keep in mind that you are obtaining an entire house from the instant you gather the last of the materials and I step through your front door, hence the price. You do not have to wait for me to decorate it, it comes pre-done.

For those wishing to purchase this home cross-server:

Please contact me and we will come to an agreement about a price either via LoN, SC card codes, or SC item purchases. You will be required to obtain all items, as I cannot help anyone on any server other than Antonia Bayle.

This is beautiful!  I went and had a wander round, and just love how logical it is ... and also how it's a rather compact size inside:  it's cosy and realistic while having so many lovely features.  Love the shower control (why did I never think of using baubles that way?) and, like others, the linen closet - simple idea but so beautifully executed.  Also, little features like the condiments tray in the middle of the kitchen island ... and yes, that vanity table is a triumph, though you have to be up close in front of it to really appreciate the skill in making it - it's so precise.

Gorgeous, Jaz!

(the pedant in me has to say that Tudor beams are way thicker, though.  But I grew up in a city full of the style.  Meh.  Ignore me.  It's lovely! xD)

I agree entirely, and know it's not a true Tudor style farmhouse. However, that's what it was based off of. Since I cannot make the beams thicker without either doubling the number of beams or waiting until we get crafted building blocks, the beams must stay that width.

EQ2 doesn't have the Tudor style anyway, so I shall continue to call it the Tudor Farmhouse right up until someone gives me a better name SMILEY

Thank you for the kind compliments everyone, and I'm glad you enjoy my little contribution to the world of Norrath.

Happy decorating!

The outside style of this beautiful building, being inspired by the Tudor farmhouse, looks amazing - especially in the eyes of an old EverQuest 1 player. The architecture in this inspired farmhouse uses the same principals as the old Freeport buildings from EQ1. Bravo Jazabelle. Another job well done.
