If you have 8gig Download im willing to bet you use win7 and that you are "upgrading" launcher and its actually re'downloading the game. YOu need to set the file as admin and make sure it goes to right directory not Public directory it seems to default to. Hope this helps.

First of all close down the box, with X in corner. Then rerun it, choose full or streaming depending what you use. When you get to point where you need to put in directory. *Before this find where your original launcher file directory is for example :"C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IILaunchPad.exe" When you find it, you will need to erase the directory the game is defaulting to and manually put in correct one, in most cases it just first part that is incorrect. Once you do that it should DL to right spot. Make sure your running it as admin too (this part i cant explain as i dont have win7), just going by what some guildies mentioned yesterday. SMILEY Hope this helps a little.

I had my first attempt start out with a 14 gig download. I had to point the directory to the existing location so it wouldn't install a whole seperate game.

On my husband's computer, his C drive is a low capacity SSD so he keeps EQ2 there and almost nothing else. There was not enough space on the drive to patch, so I had to copy his folder to another drive, then point the directory to the new drive. This brought it down to a 3-ish gig download. We have 4 computers to do this on, so yeah...lots o'fun today!

Yes SOE said they would refund things that were purchased after a certain date. So you will need to rebuy them when servers are up.

Yes but it makes zoning so much slower. HD's are very cheap, be alot better to just get a bigger HD if your lacking space. SMILEY Can get 500+ gig ones now for like 50$. I know for some this is a hardship, but its just a thought.

Thank you for saving me hours!  My own fault I suppose for not scrutinizing the d/l location, but you have saved me a lot of time and downloading of unnecessary data.

Glad to help, after watching a couple guildies get frustrated, i can see how this can be very annoying for some. So if this helps even a few, then a few souls are saved the frustration SMILEY

If you have time and room for full game its much better then streaming. Its alot less loading times for instance.

How large is the game folder supposed to be? I've been using the streaming client, but the launchpad has never needed to download anything for a long time now. The launchpad now says "preloading assets" and I have a 14 gig download to get through, but I can start the game just fine. The game folder was already 15 gig prior to this, so this seems to incline that the game is roughly 30 gig in size. Is it really that huge?

I can confirm that I'm running as administrator and the game isn't downloading into another folder.

Yes. The game is that big now. My folder for EQ2 is at 29.3GB. It does also include almost 4GB of logs that I could delete.

My pointer points to the correct file directory (I'm also using Vista-64 Bit). It also states that I needed to get through 8 gigs. I then x'd out and right clicked "Run as Administrator". It now says 3.5 gigs. *sigh*

Our base game should be nowhere near 30gb.  You must have a lot of screenshots, or other files.  If you connected to the Test server, your folder named "Test Server" might also have an entirely different copy of the assets in it.

I thought you guys said somewhere this new launcher is supposed to be smart, fast, and easy...

I click my original, full client, shortcut to the game and I am forced to download 14gb? 14gb of what? The entire game again? It was already on my computer! What is with this?

Wait a min, I was away from game for a while but came back maybe two weeks ago. I downloaded the game from website and it went to c drive users public, Is that not right for what I downloaded. I always just installed off the disks, But I wanted to play and usually the disk take forever.

I never have any real problems in game, my longest load times are like 15-25 seconds usually its near instant. But my launcher too is downloading 8 gigs, the folder is only 6 gigs.

I can log in np, just cant play of course.

The paks folder takes up the majority of the overall game.  In total, not including log files and the TestServer folder, the base game is 14.3 GB for me.

Win7 likes to dump EQ2 in the public folder with the older launchers with its default download location. I had to force it to download into the program folder previously. Are you downloading it into a new file location or pointing the launcher to your previous download location?

I don't think I ever let it fully download, I didn't move it or anything. I was able to play....or get to toon select rather...then all of a sudden the shortcut didn't work anymore and it said that it was moved or changed, I hit fix/reinstall and now I'm here where it says 8 gigs....well I think 6 now..

I can still get to toon select tho. Its weird. And when fixing it it went to the same location. Public, all my stuff is there as well. Profit, Mapupdater, and UI settings. Basically everything.

*Edit* When its done cant I just like move the whole folder? I mean its fine in public so far, haven't had any problems. Occasional wait but not very long.

*Edit again* Once its done thats about what the game should be, 14 or 15 gigs. With my map and profit and character data.. Guess ill leave it where it is and just play like I normally do.

My Sony folder is 33.1 gigs, but EQ2 is only 13.7, while, Vanguard is 19.3.  Now my EQ2EX is in the users folder and is also 13.7.  After everyhting is up, will I be able to delete the EQ2EX folder?  I don't want the game twice if I no longer need it.
