![]() EQ2 has an abundance of races. Which ones do you enjoy playing? Do you pick races based purely on looks, or perhaps roleplay reasons? Or maybe for the racial traits? Let's hear it |

![]() Halflings... they're unique, rarely played by other players, the females are cute (ONLY IN ORIGINAL MODELS.... do yourself a favor and don't use SOGA for halflings!), and they get track. I like small races, but HATE gnomes and don't want wings or fur.

![]() I play Ratonga's and gnomes (in regular not SOGA) lately though I went through a dark elf phase for a while but now I am past that and playing small races, I love the gnome repair once a day ability! |

![]() I gravitate towards halflings, always have (even in EQ1) - have a bruiser, assassin, and a swashy currently, but I also lean towards arasai. I love their emotes (in particular saying "The pleasure is all yours" when I greet someone and the "Whee!" when I jump) and the fact they can fly now with no mount equipped is a bonus. |

![]() I usually like to pick a race that embodies my class choice, or simply my idea of the character in my head. Lately, I've been feeling the urge to make a Troll. I like how nasty and ugly they are (oddly enough), and I like that they are not played much. We shall see if the future holds a stinky smelly troll in my future lol |

![]() If it's not a scout class, Kerra for the tracking and safefall (although new mounts have ruined safefall in general during the levelling process...) If it is a scout class, meh...I suppose my last couple have been rats, cause rats are small and cool.

![]() There two race abilites that outshine all others imho: Tracking (elves, halflings, flea bitten kerrans) and the ability to teleport to a group mate in zone (Erudites, High Elves). Just yerterday during double xp madness I was reminded of the power of tracking. There were many others competing with my halfling SK for mobs in Palace of the Awakened. But they would waste valuable time getting on the elevators just to see if the mobs had spawned up there. With tracking I was able to tell exactly when it was worth it to make the trip up and thus was always able to beat them to the punch. |

![]() I honestly choose races that follow EQ1's lore for the most part rather than any specific racial ability. Gnome Guardian - A bit of an inside joke with my olf EQ1 Guild, but there were Gnome Warriors in EQ1, I raided beside 2 as a Barbarian Warrior. Human Swashbuckler - After 5 years and numerous SC bonuses I finally took advantage of the KoTD lore and changed him to Freeblood, mostly for 25% more charges on every poison. Fae Warden, Troll Defiler, Barbarian Brigand, Barbarian Mystic, High Elf Conjuror, Half Elf Troubador |

![]() I pretty much always play stock characters that I created for old D&D campaigns, so race is generally pre-chosen. Ironically, the only character I play that wasn't from D&D is my main, Argond. However, he originally created in EQ1 pre-Kunark, so my only option as a monk was Human. From a mechanical standpoint, I would probably go with Kerran for the tracking (and because I love cats, even though Kerra do kinda look like apes in this game) but I generally have a hard time identifying with animal-like characters. I am an actor by trade, so exploring a character's motivations and influences is important to me, and anthropomorphic creatures just seem a bit too foreign. |

![]() I've got one of every race except Kerran atm. I'm saving that one for a beastlord. I play some based on characters I've played in other games. Some just because I liked how they looked in character creation. My main for example, I played just because she looked cute when I was playing around with character creation on release day. |

![]() I love seeing iksars and sarnaks in my group, though I can't help always falling back to Halfling lasses for my characters. I like the female Halfing in EQ2, but also miss the look they had in EQ1 Luclin. They had bigger eyebrows and a long nose. I'm really impressed by how the modellers managed to create a unique face shape for each race, especially when you consider the subtle variation between high elf, wood elf, human and dark elf. |

![]() Ratongas are great for scout classes since they have that awesome deaggro spell called "Pitiful Plea". But that got taken away a while back with an AA revamp. Yes. I'm still bitter about it. |

LOL - I play Troll (roleplay reasons - am Troll in any game that has it) and for RP reasons......i have to comment on Froglok. The most vile race a perversion of the evil Marr Twins. met with contempt and seething hatred and disdain....... Tho i must say, after spending time in the Moors of Ykesha - The Tuptan Froglok seem to be "better" no longer of the hated Mithaniel Marr. The evil now lies with the Survival Accord .. Froglok and Troll under the same banner of Marr. Even the new Grobb trolls seem "better" as the old ones-children of Ykesha- were all but exterminated in the great Trollish civil war. so anyway.. i play Troll or Dark elf mostly |

![]() Wood Elf definitely, because they are the cutest race (in original model, SOGA is awful), and tracking is a nice plus. |
