Dear Sony Team,

I'm writing to you as a very upset and distraught long time subscriber of your game Everquest 2.I remember this game as a popular bustling game filled with people every square foot. Whether or not we all liked eachother was a completely different story and from that I digress. Now yes I write from the less than populated Nagafen pvp server, the only one if I am correct, left. This game has seen its ups and downs but more of lately its downs. People have unsubscribed and left in droves. Something you seemingly ignore, peoples cries out to roll back to the way things used to be, back when the game was insanely populated to a level that was unmatched by any other game. Right now its a fight to find a group, pvp, a raid, sometimes even a guild! Your solution to these people who have unsubscribed and moved on is to release more content and more expansions and spread the already thinning population wider and wider. This has since brought up an interesting concept that is not my own but I have heard come from many of the still subscribers and those who have moved on. Release a server that is only up to EoF, or maybe even KoS, back when this game was bustling almost overpopulated. Pvp was in overabundance and tho some may say "It wasnt even" I figure it not being even beats it not being present. For god sakes Sony take one last ditch effort at making this game half of what Everquest 1 was. Everyones saying this game is old? Look at EQ1 still going strong from what I hear and they have upwards of 12-14 expansions. What my point is really, bring this game back to its glory, somehow. I've played this game series since I was 8 years old, I just graduated high school. Its been a part of my life and as nerdy as that sounds I miss it. You have a great fanbase and a great game. Bring it back to its former glory before you have no one left to help.

PS. I dont care if you flame me.

Feel free to add your opinions

I'm not an english major so dont critisize my spelling or sentence structure.

Thanks

Your Loyal Subscriber

You can't revert back the game to how it was some years ago, it makes no sense at all, not for the customer and not for SoE. it's not what a MMORPG is about. What you're suggesting is turning EQ2 into a "normal" Computer Roleplaying game. Because those do not evolve, once created they stay the same, aside from bugfixes.

Now you're longing for a time where you were enjoying the game the most. Keyword is YOU, your personal opinion, and you do not speak for the majority of us players. When you say people left in droves, you mean yourself mainly. Maybe 1 or 2 guys you knew/know. If you have serious sources of your information regarding how many people subscribe/unscubscribe, please share.

You think you know the solution to revive a 7 year old MMORP, with your sweet 16 years. it's just laughable.

Children should not be allowed to post at all, because unfortunately it looks like devs draw a lot of their conclusions based on posts/information they find here. And i'm worried that there's more children like the OP who think they know everything about MMORPG's and make ridiculous claims and suggestions that lead us to bull$hit like SC market to please this upcoming infantile generation who has an attention span of a stoned monkey and threaten to leave a game if it doesn't go the way they want.

If you leave, just leave. When you unsubscribe you have the option to tell SoE why you left. Why are you posting here ? you're 1 of thousands and no one cares at all. You think a dev will read this and then change the game ? or go to next meeting and burst in tears telling his buddies about your post ? who are you kidding.

Do we play the same game? Me and one or two of the few that I knew? Are you joking? If you played from launch through the good times you'd realize the population we have now is nothing compared to what we used to have. For you to say that it was just enjoyable to just ME is ignorant why don't you look at all the forum threads how they complain about everything. No one is as happy with this game as they were back then. Why don't you look at the fact they've condensed from many servers to just a few and now like 3 actually have a population worth mentioning on it. I'm not saying turn this game into that. Open a server like that, I'd be willing to put money that server becomes more populated than any currently running right now. I'm not expecting myself to be some huge game changer but I was hoping others would come and put in their two cents, much like you have, but not be a complete d bag, much like you have, this is why the game has ended up the way it has because the fan base isnt united we'd rather sit here and attack eachother for wanting the game to be the way it was when millions played, not thousands tops.

Maybe if everyone on Nagafen tries all going on the same team so there's no PvP targets for one faction and no point leaving town for the other faction that would help!

Oh wait...

Just wait for an open source emulator to create one.. seriously shouldn't be too much longer.  As much fun as what you are asking with a EoF server sounds, it won't work..... not by SoE anyway.  They need to focus on keeping this game moving forward and attempt to save it.  Not much longer and I'm gone too and I've played this game since launch.  My points of failure:

1. Releasing an expansion pack without even giving PvP a thought.  GU60 months after DoV is release.  !@#@! you!2. Each classes DPS was unique and built into their Spells and Combat Abilities.  Now EQ2 DPS is Spells and AutoAttack damage. Why was this DPS move done?  It ruined what made EQ2 great.  You can't have a successful game where all the DPS is frontloaded cause some scout/fighter "looks" at you.  How #@% stupid.3. Way too much immunity.  If you don't want risk, there is zero risk on a PvP server4. You stink at marketing.  Are Free Realms and Star War Clone Wars driving sales?  They are the only SoE games I see anywhere.  It's getting to the point where if I don't pre-order EQ2 expansion packs from ANY retailer, you will NEVER see it on a shelf.5.  ** Attention **  SoE dev or community relations department... where the #@! are you!?  I'm serious, it feels like you left us to die and fade away.  Communicate with your community for the love of god.

EQ2 was great, unique game with a combat system that was amazingly fun.  No other MMO plays, feels or functions like EQ2 in PvP.  I'll even go as far as to say it's still the best looking MMO on the market.  That's saying alot for an almost 10 year old game.  Adverstise it as so!

1. Releasing an expansion pack without even giving PvP a thought.  GU60 months after DoV is release.  !@#@! you!

  • And only releasing half of the PVP gear, using last expansion as the "reason" for doing so, citing previously the jewelry / weapons were released on a separate GU, not using common sense in thinking that last expasion you didnt wait 3 months to release the first set, so after 3 months we had a FULL set of PVP gear, not after 6 months like we are getting in this garbage expansion !@*#! you again!

2. How #@% stupid.

  • Press the auto attack button and you get 25k+ burnt off someone instantly from flurry / MA / procs / etc... pretty FPS-esque if you ask me...

3. Way too much immunity.  If you don't want risk, there is zero risk on a PvP server

  • You took away openworld immunity for a reason, only to give it right back except 100 times worse.. its 100% immunity any time you want, just hit space bar for 2 seconds and insta-immunity for anyone, any time, as many times as they want it... fail fail fail fail fail fail fail

4. You stink at marketing.  Are Free Realms and Star War Clone Wars driving sales?  They are the only SoE games I see anywhere.  It's getting to the point where if I don't pre-order EQ2 expansion packs from ANY retailer, you will NEVER see it on a shelf.

  • This game is 100% sold on word of mouth, and from what I see, EQ2 is gonna die a hardcore death soon, because the "word of mouth" is sh$%t talking EQ2, not praising it...
  • The friends that sold me on this game 5 years ago have long since quit and nearly all the people I have made friends with and played with along the years have quit as well... and I sure as hell wouldnt reccomend this game to anyone right now... grats on failing SOE

5.  ** Attention **  SoE dev or community relations department... where the #@! are you!?  I'm serious, it feels like you left us to die and fade away.  Communicate with your community for the love of god.

  • Going on what 3 weeks since our "PVP DEV" last even commented on a post here... I don't care how busy anyone is, it takes 1 minute to post an update to some of the questions posted here on the PVP forums...  This guy thinks he is too important and busy for 1 minute of his precious time...  he isn't..

  • the people in charge of advertising at SOE really need to go back to highschool... this game has so much potential... and they let it slip away... SOE really deserves to go under from all the blunders... I hope they do... I hope everyone at SOE loses their jobs TBH... they have earned that...
  • If I was as fail at my job as they are at their jobs, I would have been ridiculed and fired long ago, and I woulda said "hmm... I cant believe I got away with that for so long, kudos for them for seeing how worthless I was and cleaning house"

The only people $hit talking so much are the PvPers, the PvE part of EQ2 is still very good and without competition. Just because PvP is falling apart doesn't mean that the whole game is dieing a "hardcore death soon", even if the PvP community thinks that all and everything is centered around them.

(The game is old, losing players over time is a natural thing and happens to every MMO. EQ2 will die one day, sure, but not that fast)

Where have you been?  Nagafen use to be a red server overloaded with people, and ever since the merge Nagafen has been on a major downward slope to a green server some of the time. There is no doubt and very obvious that SOE is loosing Nagafen players by the bulk. The KoS pvp server may not be the only option out there but its not a bad idea either.

btw, i think you should take your own advice.  Remember, it is YOU who disagrees with him.  Primarily just YOU.  i don't think i have seen anyone who actually believes that the poppulation is as healthy as it was a while ago.  Many more than 1 or 2 people he knew left the game.  I alone know probably 200 people that have left the game, and i hardly know anyone.  So the poppulation IS going down a lot.

How about instead of "children" not being allowed to post, idiots and (censored) holes like you shouldn't be allowed to post?  His ideas and opinions are sound, and agreed upon by a large part of the community.  If you don't want a kos pvp server then, oh, you know you don't have to go?  They wouldn't force you to go.  And if you think only HE wants it, then what do you have to worry about?

He is longing for a time when MOST PEOPLE enjoyed the game.  Can you honestly say that you have ever seen someone say that pvp is the best it has ever been?  I know i haven't.

Use your own advice before you post.  remember that it is just YOU and it might not just be HIM as in this case it is a large portion of the poppulation left(most of the people who actually like pvp)

I think its funny how so many people "speak" for the pvp community. I see mostly the same names here over and over. Yes the server loads are going down. But I've made atleasr 5 new toons in the last few weeks as well as my 2 kids and always the server is in the red. People are just so spread out now. There is just so much that you can do now and so many places to hide if you don't want pvp. Remember eq2 is not a pvp game by design. If it was the world would force u into pvp bottlenecks. Eq does just the opposite by opening up zones and travel in everyway possiable.
