Has anyone been able to kill him since yesterdays hotfix?  I've run thru Shadowed Corridors several times and have always been able to get past him but today my group ended up fighting him for nearly a half hour trying to figure out how to get him past 75%.  We tried everything we could possibly think of but nothing worked.  Ended up just running for the zone to break the encounter.

You were able to kill him before? Were you using the hot water?

Yes I killed him before the hotfix and yes I did use the hot water.  After my post here I spoke to others about it and it does appear to be doable.  Although I have to say that one must only have a split second to respond to his emote now to use the water because I did spend a half hour trying to kill him.  I wish I had kept track of how many times I actually threw the water...I can only guess it was at least 20-30 times.

Last night I was having problems with the water not working more than 50% of the time. It almost seemed like the window of availability has moved later; that is, when I used the water immediately after the emote, the water would cast without stopping his health gain, but if I waited until his health started moving up it mostly worked. Maybe it was just lag before that had always let me throw the water immediately after his emote. It's a fair bit harder to time when you wait for his health to go up, especially at the 75% mark.

Thanks Thud.  I just ran in and tried him again using others suggestions.  It appears that I was just to fast throwing the water.  Alvic does need to be healing up before you throw it or it wont work.

The Bug now is you can no longer rely on his emotes to throw the water; instead you have to watch for all the dispels in the chat text.

A group I was in had the same problem , his emote and his healing are way out of whack now , before I used to ignore his healing emote and as soon as he started to heal up , throw the water.

Now ,

1. if more than one person throws the water , he heals still.

2. You have a much smaller window to throw the water , if you miss it..he heals to full.

The hot water is used to remove his healing buff. If you throw it before he has his healing buff it doesn't have anything to remove... The message he gives lets you know he is about to start healing so you can be ready when he does.

I haven't done him since that hotfix that supposedly changed something about the fight.

The way it used to work, though, was that he started healing at 75%, 50%, and 25%.  The emote was never needed, as far as I'm concerned.  You just threw the water on him when he hit, respectively, 75%, 50%, and 25%, or perhaps 1% before, depending on the amount of DPS in the group.

My wife, playing her defiler, and I have killed Alvic by ourselves several times, and we never had any trouble, so I can't see why a full group would.  It isn't as though he jumps to 100% HP instantaneously when he starts healing, so even if you lose a bit of progress, just throw the water and DPS on until the next healing point--he never heals at the same percentage twice, you know, assuming you actually throw the water while he is still healing.

Yes, but it's slightly changed.  It now has a blazing red message flashing near the time you need to use the water.

The red message says something like he's about to heal himself.  (the update notes promised a warning messge.

If you panic and use the water when ther red message arrives, you've wasted it.   You still have to wait until he leans back and shouts whatever he shouts when actually healing.

As before, if you used the water at the wrong time,  he just heals all the way back.   Use it at the right time, and he heals practically not at all, unlike the pre hotfix, where he healed enough during the water cast time to recover maybe 10%.

He still only needs 3 water treatments,  at the 75%, 50%, and 25% points.

If the new, red message has any use, it's to trick folks, and I see it has.   I'll admit to taking an extra turn at the water heater the first time it went off, as I'm springloaded to fire on the red message from raiding experience.

After seeing what happened, it was  smooth sailing again.
