Was this intended? I went to check out the new race and when I went back to character select my halfelf turned into this ugly looking thing. I have done 2 bug reports and haven't seen anything that said this would happen. Anyone have a clue and or did I miss the memo? Thanks

Ugly thing? You're gonna have to be a bit more specific. Are you talking about the SOGA alternate models? What his normal model suddenly altered without explanation? Are you wearing a mask or something?

Same thing happened to one of my Dark Elves, now she looks like an out of work Kate Moss with a pigment problem.

The exact same thing happened to me also.  On more than one character.  I did not pick the SOGA model for a reason.  Why was it picked for me?

Are you able to change it back at character selection (alternate appearance button in the bottom right)? One of mine got stuck in SOGA when I created a new character, probably because the game now considers SOGA to be default and forces it upon you at creation, and when I made another Dark Elf it set me as wanting my Dark Elves to be SOGA... so it made all my Dark Elves forcibly SOGA. Went through and changed them all back, but it ticked me off quite a bit... and I still cannot understand what possessed them to consider the poorly made SOGA models the 'best' ones that new players would be introduced to at character creation. Ugh.

Hope you can get your character back to normal.

Mine doesn't have the option to change back.

I feel for you, and all of you that play any of the races that have SOGA appearences. SOGA models are one of the main reasons I play races that only have the one model.

I hope you get the problem sorted out, and you have my sympathy. I know how much an issue like that would irk me. Your character is an extension of your self, and you like it to look the way you want (understandably).

I've been having that issue myself. You have to go to the character select screen and hit "Alternate Model" until it changes back. It won't even let me do it in the game.

This is annoying.

What was also annoying is I have all the SOGA models turned off, and when I used my Rhime Illusion this weekend it was of a SOGA halfling.

If I have them off, they need to stay off.

And why can we no longer change them on the fly in the options menu, they worked perfectly fine for years so why change it (break it) now?

Better yet, get rid of them completely.  I hate hate hate the SOGA models.  I think it was the WORST waste of time and resources for them to implement them.  Absolutely the most ignorant decision SOE has made to date.

Not even close lol

And I like switching back and forth depending on my mood... but why do I now have to log out of the game to do so = /boogle.

This happened to only Woodelf females for me.

You can turn it off, it's somewhere in the options panel (under display?), make sure you click "advanced" in the upper right to see everything.

As Cyliena says you can resolve this through your options menu.  Select Options, and the second from bottom selection is Alternate Models.  You should get a list of races - make sure these are all unchecked and your Half Elf should be back to normal.  You don't need to select Advanced and you can do this from the character select screen.   I think you can also do this in game.

Hope that helps

Aeriel

That no longer works all the time.

For example my (made after the changes went live) Dwarven bruiser looks SOGA regardless if its turned on under options or not.

I can only get him to look Western EQ2 if I log into character select and change him.

And this is why I say ratongas are the best race. No SOGA model ftw.

Actually I've seen this problem on NPCs too. There's a wood elf in my guild hall that will sometimes show up SOGA even though I have all the models turned off. I have to go back and changing it in the options menu again. By change I generally mean turn them all on, and then turn them all off.

And some of us play because we have the option to have the SOGA. The other models are Fugly and I never cared for them. The SOGA allow me to make a character as I like. Now they need to fix the option so others can stick with the original models if they really want, but "get rid of them" isn't acceptable to some of us that are paying just as much money as you are. I'm really hoping they eventually fix the Freebloods with some decent SOGA models.

Only thing I could imagine with that discription is that you somehow turned SOGA models on.

Ratongas are the best but not for that reason, although that is definatly a plus.

Animations? I'm not aware of any animations unique to ratonga other than the running one, which doesn't look especially good as far as I know.  Could be that the running animation for other races is really bad but I wouldn't know.

For sure.  Well and Froglok too.

If someone else wants to use those models, that's their issue.  I've really questioned the future direction of EQ2, ever since the SOGA models were made the default.  The races all look the same, and they don't fit the current game so I realize that SOE may be planning to revise EQ2 into a totally different game.

On the other hand, this problem of unrequested character changes sounds like a bug in need of fixing.

There's two side to the argument.  I think the old models are terrible, especially human and dark elf.  Half elves really got the shaft with SOGA, so I'll give you that.  Otherwise I think the newer models are far more attractive.  I may be in the minority in this thread but I'm sure others agree with me.

Not EVEN going to get into the Original VS SOGA model debate (other than saying I'm very happy there are not 2 models for any of the 4 newer races).

As for the original comment, if you go to character select and try to create a new character, whichever race/sex it randomly opens to when you hit "create new character" is going to get set to SOGA in your options as well as the race/sex you actually end up picking if it has a SOGA model.

Likewise if you run with SOGA and switch to original models to alter the original model, that race/sex gets stuck on the original model.

Usually you can fix it in the options on the character screen.

Sometimes it even gets stuck that way in your in game options. The check box for that race/sex combo will be greyed out and you can't change it from whichever one it got stuck on. When you mouse over it, a tooltip pops up saying "player settings have overriden" something or another.

I've bugged this more than one time. The first time was when they first put the defaulting to SOGA models in.

It's probably not very high up their list of things to do, but I know if my girls had gotten stuck in the model I dislike, I doubt I'd continue paying & playing until the bug was fixed. Lucky me the character I've had affected by the everstuck can't override settings got stuck in the model I prefer. I'd like to be able to see the other one on occassion, but I'll live. It is still a bug that is really annoying, been around a while and needs to get fixed.
