What I would love to see added to housing is a log book that visitors could sign in with.

Maybe add a comment section?

Or just log who and when someone comes and visits your house would be nice. My Coldain butler has no clue who comes and goes so he's no help. (thanks though. the butler is neat)

With the extra housing coming up I have lotsa plans for the multiple homes.

FYI...

A way to get people to add their names to your "log book" is to place a voice sign near your entrance and mailbox and ask them to send you a game mail. But a log book would be oh so much cooler.

While this is a nice idea (and I have a guest book myself that I do something similar with) please remember that only trustees can use the mailbox in your house. Mailboxes are one of those items that cannot be used by random visitors.

much to my chagrin when i visit places i'm buying from and am pleasantly surprised at the decor SMILEY

we have the ability to "mark" our name on items in old world zones, and then you have the races & lottos that can record the last 10-12 names... combine the two! it's not perfect, especially for a high traffic house, but better than nothing

i think i like the idea of a guest book too. i don't like the idea of it auto-logging visitors, but one visitors can sign if they choose would be really nice. good idea.

Hrm, what if the mail box were adapted to serve this purpose...

Give it the house item appearance of an open book.  Let vistors click on and use it.  It sends a special mail message to the house owner, automagically filling in the owner's name (perhaps even the name of the person who placed it) invisibly.  The vistor would just click, type a quick message about the home, and then send.  If the decorator/owner wanted to, they could enter the message into a player written book to share with future vistors.

Of course, this might depend on a UI mod that allows the owner to copy recieved mails out of their inbox.  I know my UI can do that, but I'm not sure about default.

At the end of the day, I'd just be happy with making mail boxes Vistor-usable.

Yes, please!  I agree, this would be a very nice addition.

maybe a no-tade fancy looking opened notebook that can be set for the public to write in but not edit by the owner? idk how that hard that would be on the programming side, but i think it would be a perfect guest book.
