HELP!! EQ2 has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown!

I was playing just yesterday, and today is the big expansion pack. I started up the Launcher the normal way and got my 13mb download. When I hit the play button, I keep getting this message:

Failed to Initialize asset system: error during initialization

(hppt://eq2.patch.station.sony.com/patch/eq2/assets/live/)

00430d09

Just so that you know, the E: drive on my computer is the DVD player. Please help as I can't play the game that I pre-ordered!

I am getting it also. I imagine it is something we have to just wait out as the servers return to their normal state after being worked on. Hopefully were not waiting long, I'm impatient.

I had the same issue, but now its fixed. I use the streaming client and I guess it patched itself.

I am still having this issue. Game continues to download. Only 500mb left. Anyone from SOE know what is going on as there are a lot of people that can't play due to this issue?

seems to be all fixed with me now, maybe just a freak bug that happened while the servers were updating! .... well off to get my fix! ...

Well it seems to be fixed for me...maybe. It looks like the fix is somewhere in the actual game download. I had about 430 mb to go until the game is completely loaded, and now I am not getting the error. When I went to charactor select, all the servers are locked. I guess if it is not one thing, it is another.

I am recieving the same error. I use streaming client and was on the game about 4 hours ago with no problems. Went to log back in and am having this error no matter what I do. I don't know if it matters how much of the game I have left to download but I am currently just over 2GB.

PLEASE HELP!

I am having the same issue on the Everfrost server.

At first I had the error about not being able to find my char, that started yesterday, and this morning I went through and deleted the files and folders (cached stuff) suggested in another post. After I did that I reran the patcher and now get the unrecoverable error.

E:liveeq2gameclientsrcClientApp.cpp (3975): Failed to initialize asset system: error during initialization

Windows 7, 64 bit

If anyone figures out how to get in I would love to know.

UPDATE!

**** 15 minutes after I posted this I was able to get in! Maybe it is fixed for everyone else as well?

been playing daily for several years without issue. today I got the crash as described above. Game appears to crash because its not finding anything in my E drive (dvd). Running streaming launcher and forced a full scan hasn't changed a thing. CRASH

Using launchpad.exe it opens the loading screen, says caching appearances, below says 47.7MB for a minute then 25.5MB (my connection speed is nowhere close to fast enough for it to have gotten that much that fast) then this is what I get ~ EverQuest II has detected an unrecoverable error and must shut down. E:liveeq2frameworkscenegraphsrcVeAppearance.cpp (5265): ERROR - Appearance cache is invalid 00a28e7f5c657669

Edit: I went into "Options" cleared the Cache and ran the scan. Tried to load it and still got the very same error. I'm told it's probably corrupted files and I need to reinstall... PLEASE tell me there is something I can do without having to resort to that!!!

Ok Joshua, sent you what I think you wanted but I decided to go ahead and reinstall it. I'm curious tho. I went to http://launch.soe.com/eq2/ and did the full d/l (it's almost done actually after 6 hours of loading) and what I'm wondering is will it be the streaming launcher after the initial install? What I'm askin is: Is it going to try to do a full update every time it needs to update before I can play or will it be like the other and get what it needs then let me play during the rest of the d/l?

That is the streaming LaunchPad as well, just fully downloaded up front SMILEY
