eq2Zam are more reliable at this time, try to avoid eq2 wiki/wikia since it got many hidden virus and trojans, even worst of all keylogger to steal accounts with password scanner tool they used.

eq2Flames are mostly made by hardcore raiders if you are looking for skill builder/AA tree skills, or raid tactics.

if you like decorations, there 2 sites, Eq2 Traders and Eq2 Decorators.

good luck, happy huntings!

From my own bookmarks *grin*

http://eq2.zam.com/ Quests and miscellania information about the game.

http://eq2.eqtraders.com/ Tradeskills, furniture/decorating, and whatever pertains to those.

http://www.everseek.com/ and http://eq2decorators.com/index.html for house items and decorating with http://www.eq2designers.com/ as the home of the infamous.. err wonderfully lovely housing layout editor (that is too addicting beyond words).

http://www.eq2interface.com/ for UI modifications (not like the WoW ones which, I have heard, practically play the game for you, but ones which make the game more playable for those who don't care for the default UI).

http://adornments.h0b0.net/ for stellar information on adornments.

http://www.beetny.com/eq2aa/ for an AA calculator.

And... if you don't mind the level or profanity (and outright hostility) of a flame-based site, EQ2flames.com (can't link because of it's non-PG13 content) does have some excellent information for various classes at the top end. Many of their regulars who moderate the class forums there are knowledgable but tend to impart that knowledge with a judicious dollop of R to X rated material. The site is definately Not Safe For Work viewing since you never know when someone will slip in an image of.. well.. something which could get you fired.

There rarely is "evidance" since, once discovered, the malicious is normally removed. Most of the time it's not an issue with the site itself, but the ads their running and what code can sneak though with Javascript/activeX turned on.Personally I have had issues with eq2 wiki as well. But biggest culprit are collective portal sites guilds use.. ug.. :-/Unless you really, REALLY have too, do not go on anysite (game site) with javascript/activex turned on; for that matter don't go to any with with IE at all.

Ditto that.  I've never had troubles, though I admittedly don't browse the web in "yes, I'll have that virus, please" mode.

My biggest issue with Wikia lately is that the info seems to be getting increasingly outdated and/or incomplete.  That said, it still seems to be far more complete than what I've found on ZAM and generally in a more consumable format.

For a site that highlights some key info in the game (though comments are a bit heavy on whining lately) check out: http://eq2wire.com/

I usually check out the wire more frequently than eq2players to get my EQ2 info.

Pretty much use this site everyday and have no issues at all.

There is nothing wrong with eq2 wiki/wikia. If you want to promote Zam that is fine but don't do it by put out false information about a competing site. I use both wiki and zam, Normally if one don't have the info I am looking for the other will. I personally hit wiki 1st as it is faster loading and I dislike the color scheme of Zam.

i used to browse eq2 wiki for few months until 2010 Feb (almost year ago) got infected and my PC misbehaved and got web hi-jacked, or redirecting to strange website i didnt requested. then i knew i cant log my any games, i removed internet line and spend hours with fresh updates after the reformats. so, i never went back to eq2 wiki since feb 16th, 2010. you dont look in deepest section in eq2 wiki's and discovered several virus in some "platemail armors" pages and got my PC infected even i had 3 different scanners. that person who hosted eq2 wiki need to search and clean up some pages that has hidden "piggy-back" trojans, once that cleared of virus, i could give eq2 wiki another chance to browse. right now it is not certified clean and safe.

I tend to use both Wiki (For fast finds) and Zams (more detailed / better searching) needs.

Last month (December 2010) my machine was infected and attached two different times.  The first time I was running one scanner and the second time it got through the second scanner I put in place.  It took several hours to clean the machine both times to rid of the trojans.

I normally browse from a different computer then my gaming rig but am guilty of using both IE and Firefox.  The trojans slipped through both times via IE.  I try to only use IE when secure content is not an issue.

I believe the issue is I'm running the newest version of Foxfire and an outdated version of IE, go figure.

Thanks for all your replies everyone. Interesting. I went to EQWiki earlier and when I came back from lunch, there was a webpage on my screen that I had not directed my browser to go to.

see? that happens, you just confirmed it. it just still there, regardless what IE or FF we used.

it is unethical and didnt have your permission to redirect webpages you didnt want. it could get you in hot seat if supervisor stop by and saw that pages which isnt intend for business or at home.

might be one of the ads and making the tracking where you going and make the move to redirect into somewhere instead of where you wanted.

it seem you got hi-jacked and pulling into redirected page to get PC loaded with keylogger.

I go to wiki every day and I have never been infected. I've never got a warning from any page on their site. Show me the prof it came from wiki or else your just spreading false information. Saying I went to the site don't cut it, unless it is the only site you have went to and I doubt wiki is ur home page. So show prof or it didn't happen.

Just go to the site yourself with javascript/activex turned on and wait 20 minutes. It's pretty easy to see. You're probability not seeing anything if you have the above turned off. The issues with Eq2 Wiki IS tied to their ads and scripting languages. There are several in this thread that have had issues with the site, that's more or less evidence enough. You're asking people to risk computer integrity to prove something you can do yourself. I don't blame anyone that dosen't want to go there. Go there, turn off javascript/activex, go there for a week or two, you will get infected. Do your own research. I can tell you I was infected by the site, by their ads and I run a pretty tight ship.Just becasue the grass is green for someone dosen't mean it's green for all. It's why these viruses are so hard to nail down, any computer expert will tell you that.

i do not spread false info. it did happen last year.

you want proof? it is in those armor section pages, look up in plates, each and every that all on the list as you go.

i am just giving some warnings if there is possible infected pages in advanced. if you find nothing, then i cant explain, it maybe the variation of virus scanner we used, some can see and other dont detected.

truthfully, i dont lie, it does happened, and i do like eq2 wiki since they are good source of info until web-jacker redirected. as of this day, i am avoiding eq2 wiki since feb 16th 2010.

if you hadnt been hit when browsing eq2 wiki and i think you got lucky, my AVG said it is still there.

i do really want to look up some armor set which could help me to decide to make a goal, no other sites got like that kind of format, lot of screenshot photos.

if nothing happens on your investigation, that doesnt prove i was lying, dont judge me or accuse me, i just let others to be aware of dangers of redirect hi-jacker and keyloggers. i have lost whole weekend from reformating and re-download eq2 and window patchings isnt nice for lost times.

let stop flaming, that is enough. time for me to move on other topics. i dont like troll baits.

Same here.  And yes, it does happen.  Before I started using AdBlock Plus and NoScript, I did get a trojan detection from my anti-virus as soon as the wikia page I was going to started loading.  Most often, the problems are coming from ads that are running on the page though, not from the page itself.  If you use Firefox and don't want to go so far as to run NoScript (which can be a bit of a bother when you have to tell which scripts you want to allow, such as youtube videos and scripts on trusted sites), I would recommend at least using the AdBlock Plus add on.  Not only does it prevent ads from loading, it has the added benefit of removing all those annoying, flashing, moving, jumping, irritating ads from every site you visit!
