No Duels on Nagafen

There are no duels allowed on Nagafen.  i have talked with some of my guildies, and there seems to be no logical reason why dueling would not be allowed on Nagafen.

Duels would be a great way for new players to practice pvp without having to get out and be killed lots of times in pvp.

Also, i personally am an achievment hog, and want to get as many as possible.  it makes me cry on the inside because i can't get the dueling achievments.

I would like, if i may, to know why it makes sence for dueling to be disabled on Nagafen.  And if there is no logical reason for this, i would like dueling to be enabled on Nagafen as soon as possible.

This is a good question for which I do not have an answer, but I will find out.

Apparently this is because dueling uses PvE rules and not PvP rules, so your experience in a duel wouldn't be the same as open-world PvP.  We'd have to make some changes to make it mimic PvP a little closer.

What do you mean by achievments for duels?

Back when they implemented duels there was nothing to gain but bragging rights ... unless you wager'ed plat

I was reading it as you completed some sort of quest by killing that particular profession ... maybe even race.

When you press J, and you have the options of quests, collections, and achievments, those are the achievements i am talking about.  i was just saying it is sort of a goal for me to get as many of those achievments as i can, and i won't be able to do that without either transfering to Vox, or having duels enabled on Nagafen.

Yes I know about bringing up the Journal ... If there was something gained from the beginning of dueling (inside the journal) Then I was not privy to it.

I agree with you, fighting other people is a lot of fun.  But like you i would like to fight some people on my same faction, just to show them i am clearly much better than they are.  I also really want those achievements.... idk why it just makes me feel succesful when i have them.

As far as i can see it, there are positives, and absolutely no negatives of it...

I agree with you, fighting other people is a lot of fun.  But like you i would like to fight some people on my same faction, just to show them i am clearly much better than they are.  I also really want those achievements.... idk why it just makes me feel succesful when i have them.

nope no negatives. if i remember correctly, and i could be wrong. naggy did actually have dueling available at one time. it was like at server start. i swear i can remember seeing it because naggy didnt even have pvp at server start.

also achievements are suppose to feel good

The negative would be people dueling instead of  running around in the wild so they could be ganked.   You know the same old argument about why pvp is dead.

I am still wondering about what kind of achievments you can get from dueling.   Nothing game breaking I hope ,,, because the chance of exploit is to high there.

To clarify ... The kill count pole was a clicky in west freeport before TSO.

You could click to see how many of all the mob kinds you killed (PVE) and it said how many you needed for a peticular title.  I think it was 50,000 for Slayer title of a particular mob type.

Hence Im workin on my Droag Slayer.   Well I guess Ive got a few more Sanctum of Scaleborn runs.

By the way ... Im not talking about Droag slayer initiate.    It be "Droag Slayer"

I am talking about the achievments you can get for fun... kind of like your Gamerscore on Xbox Live.  It wouldn't really help you in anyway, you just for bragging rights i guess...

duels should never ever ever be allowed on nagafen. It's hard enough trying to find "good" open world pvp with BGS and WF screwing things up. This would just promote even less open world pvp.

Duals on ALL servers should use the pvp ruleset, that way everyone gets a feel for pvp as well as going to BG's if on a blue server. The only thing i can think of that people may exploit is if they become immune to pvp when they enter a dual. Simple solution is to a) not allow duals outside of city limits or b) not give you pvp immunity whilst in a dual.

Dualing each other on Naggy isn't going to make a blind bit of difference to the current state of pvp and killing each other in a dual yields no pvp rewards so not like people can cheat the system. I know i can think of a few friends and guildies i'd like to have a scrap with for a bit of one upmanship

I am counting/hoping that duels would give some players the chance to get some well eraned practise where they can learn the delicate art of duels in a controlled enviroment.

It can be hard enough allready to get quality solo pvp experience gathered by going out and learning the hard way.With dualing we can get that extra bit of time and extra tries needed to leern the pvp solo bit. I would be extra happy if we could also duel as duo´s  `n  trios up to full 6vs6, but ofcource it is just an after thought and as such i dont care about that aslong as we get standard dueling within city zones under pvp ruleset.

Christmas is upon. I have high hopes for this one coming true =)

You can duel on Vox - it's not the same as PVP ruleset if I remember correctly - and you could only do it in your guild hall. It was fun as something to do while waiting for raid - or to practice on a new toon - or to try and beat your friend. Even if the ruleset wasn't the same...

What i think would happen is this, there would be nothing but trash talk in 1-9 allday everyday and people WOULD duel....alot...

Not saying this would single handed destroy pvp in a whole but it would help finish it off whats left of open world pvp. Excluding wfs ofcourse, people would show up for those..kill the npcs and leave. As usual.

I would be all for dueling if BGs and WFs were taken out and something was done to promote good robust pvp in zones all across norrath. I just don't want there to be yet another reason not to go open world pk'n.

Bgs and wf needa be taken out.

A wide variety of gear needs to be added that is harder to aquire. The jewlery needs to be raid quality with pvp only blue stats/procs.

Blue adorns should include set bonuse adorns

Fame needs to be restored

Long HQs needa be added for fabled items, the quests could be all open world.. nothing like doing a quest line and finding pvp.. this is the funnest imo. (yes iam saying add some pve to improve pvp)

I agree with all of what you say on here, your ideas to promote open world pvp, as i along with you would love pvp to be back to the open world pvp.  All of your ideas would help a lot.  The only thing i would have to disagree with is i don't think that dueling would finish off open world pvp, there would still be about as much now, although that isn't really a lot...

Hopefully SOE can realize that WFs and BGs are NOT a good thing for pvp, i'm crossing my fingers
