Had a group in Gears tonight that was ready to quit as soon as the score was 150-0.  They didn't want to even leave the spawn point.  Complaining about mismatches, pugs vs premades, no healers... blah blah..

So I went by myself and took the relic from them. Surely I was lucky as I hit them when the relic holder was low on health and they appeared to be sleeping.  But anyways I took it from them and ran it back to my teams side.  Then I said hey guys I have the relic if you feel like trying.  We won 702-630. Turned out to be one of the most fun matches of the evening.

moral:  mismatches happen but at least put forth an effort.

The only time I've had a group give up completely was when I was in a PUG where I was the only one wearing *any* toughness gear, and the other group was a 6-person Onyx group from Negafen.  It was just sad...they camped the spawn point and basically immediately killed anyone that even got to the edge of the spawn platform.   Once or twice I jumped down and ran around just to be annoying ...but, 2-3 good players against an illusionist is a bloodbath. SMILEY

Again, so much would be solved with a "lobby" zone on the BG server where we could put together groups before queuing.

I've never been in a group that just "gave up" except for when it was a PUG up against a FULL group of Onyx guildees togther.  Even if I see the guild tag I'll try for a while just to see if they're willing to 'handicap' and give a shot for a decent game; however, most of the time it seems they're going for some sort of stats record that has nothing to do with winning or losing, so it's usually a very bloody blowout.   Not whining or trolling here, just observing.  I've had no reason to talk trash about Onyx at all....they go in and kick butt really, really hard.   Sometimes I just don't have it in me to beat my head against that particular wall..lol.

Anyway, no offense to Onyx, I'm sure it's awesome owning -- I'm just responding to the OP as to my experiences.   I've had several instances of coming back from a fairly big deficit.

I hear ya.  I've been run over by them too.  I've been run over by random pug's as well.  Some matches I'm lucky to get a single kill, but I don't give up.  I will admit to hiding at the spawn point at the very end of a match to ensure I get the aa though.

lol ..sorry Jjay for editing on you.   I wrote what I thought was a pretty benign posting (a la your quote), but then as I was going to sleep thought "meh ...someone will think it's passive aggressive or something", so I edited my posting to be a little less accusatory.

But anyway, just wanted to apologize for the ninja edit.  He hadn't posted when I hit the edit button ...but, once I finished I saw he quoted my old posting and just wanted to let everyone know it was my bad.

No, it's still not worth it.  Let's say you have 100 games where you appear to be totally outmatched at the start.  And let's say you have a chance to win 2 of them if you try.  That means you spend 98 games wasting your time.  Better just to give up on all 100, because 1) it's less frustrating 2) you'll get more tokens, because the extra 4 tokens are far outweighed by giving up and getting the games over more quickly than prolonging them and 3) you can do something worthwhile while you wait for time to expire.

In short, you save time and get better rewards by giving up in near-hopeless situations.

First, giving up and sitting at the spawn point just prolongs the match. Run out and get killed. It will speed up the loss.

Second, I refuse to give up as my reputation is on the line. Someday there may be a hub where you can put together stacked groups. Do you honestly think any good groups will recruit you if you are the guy who got killed 3 times and then sat at the spawn point for the remainder of the match whining? I woudn't. And keep in mind such a hub will also allow the allready stacked groups the become more stacked bringing the best of all servers together in one group.

Third, if you are having trouble getting in groups with no healers and you think the BG system is at fault in missmatching groups, try doing what the naggy people do. Put together a group before you go in. It is the exact same process we have been doing for instance runs for years now....LF heals for BG run PST.......it works.

That's the main problem with gears matches...that, and people not realizing that you get a big bonus if the person holding the relic gets a killshot.

If it's a mismatch, then get the match over with quickly...don't hide up in your base, and don't hide with the relic.

You hit upon some good points that a lotta people have failed to see in BattleGrounds.

1) Pre-made Groups Q'ing for BG's ---seriously Guys get it together and get yaself a group b4 ya Q! its not Rocket Science.

2) Don't give up cause ya Died a few times, and then Sit on Spawn point. I know it stinks being rolled. believe me I know how frustarting it can be.

3) People do notice that ya keep going at it no matter how many times ya Die.

Edit sorry forgot to add something.

Do ya Guys that are saying BG's are one sided actually want the Fabled BattleField Gear? I know I do. Thats whats keeping me going back to them no matter how many I get rolled.
