![]() I have long equated PVP with profanity, insulting language, discriminatory conduct, childishness, greed, and impatience. But I thought surely the EQ2 community would do better. Nope. Same hate-filled tirades of "noob" and "he must be foreign" and "effing terrible..." Yup. First time in Battlegrounds. Don't know the lay of the land. Don't know the strategies. And now probably not going to have a chance to learn, because apparently I'm the last human on earth who actually wants to relax and have fun playing a game instead of making myself feel important by belittling others. I'd love to get better and participate more completely... but not at the cost of my evening. Very sad, some of the people in there. Very sad indeed. |

Normally when people say stuff like that, you are doing something wrong, just like some friends would tell you that the Mullet you have looks dumb, others won't, don't be mad at them for trying to push you and being honest |

![]() I'll never understand people who need to take every minor comment or correction as a grevious insult. Sure some people will act like idiots, but just ignore them. Noob |

There's two steps to helping someone get better with something. The first is telling them that they are doing something wrong, yes, but the second is following it with tangible advice to help them grow into the role. The second hasn't happened very often from people who are just resorting to insults to try to make them change. It doesn't work. Folks should try being supportive of each other and helping others learned. Surprisingly, i've actually -seen- this in battlegrounds from time to time. You're always going to have people who have their nose shoved so far up their posterior, however, that they're touching tonsils. So just be patient with those who are being childish |

They're more likely to get smacked upside the head than to ask what they did wrong. Ah the joys of the internet. A little tip: If someone actually tells me or anyone else, "Hey, if you did this? It would probably work a whole heck of a ot better." I'm very inclined to listen. If someone tells me "you're a [Removed for Content]."... my response goes without saying. Though yes, some folks can be oversensitive. Though I think that treating other people like adults is something that we all have the right to expect when playing a game targeted at an audience of adults. |

![]() Dont worry, the ones who belittle others and hurl abuse are a minority, and everyone else is thinking what you are thinking about them, we just got used to ignoring them. Of course some will defend this abusive behaviour here, because they have got into the habit of doing it themselves on naggy and now think that stuff is normal, or even that it is constructive criticism (yes, calling someone a useless *ing noob with 4 other swear words in there and shouting about how you wish you could kick unmentionables like them from your group is sooo constructive notsovile. really.). It isnt normal and it isnt allowed, if its voice chat turn it off for the round, if it is text chat report them. Oh and do learn to play your class better too, but not because the kiddies shouted, just because the game is more fun. |

![]() It's a game. Laugh, and move on. Honestly, I've been surprised at how civil it has been. Occassionally you'll have an a-- or two, but it's been the exception more than the rule. Frankly, I've found that most of the criticisms/outbursts have been due to the insanely short time we have to "set up" before the match starts. Everyone is hectic to get the groups right and sometimes people get impatient. Also, best to just not look at the computer or listen to voice when your team lose. Some people suck at losing..and you just have to ignore them. |

![]() I hope you're not one of those players entering BGs with less then 10K health at 90. I'd hate the BGs also. |

![]() This kind of stuff isn't only happening in pvp. Hell when I first started playing eq2 and rolled on Lucan D'lere I got kicked out of a fallen gate group because I wasn't roleplaying lol. Stop saying this only happens in pvp because it doesn't. People will judge you in pve just as fast when making groups if you suck you know why you aren't getting into many groups. |

This is exactly right. Elitism is in no way PvP exclusive. It comes with the mmo territory sadly. All I can say is, mute ftw, and get thicker skin. |

![]() That's one advantage of the UK specific battlegrounds: "Hello chaps" "Good day" "Howdja do?" "Ok, if you wouldn't mind awfully could you stay close to me if you want heals, I really can't afford to run after you, y'know." "By jove! I've been one-shotted!" "I say, they've gone and got the gear into their spawn point, that is not cricket at all!" "Old chap, could I offer a bod a bit of advice? Try porting the chap to us and we can get the gear back." "I say, jolly good show, nice job all round!" Ok, maybe not. |

![]() I've done maybe 40 matches as my dirge. A warden friendn, which happens to be a british woman, decided to join me for a few Smuggler runs. Now I had done nearly the all previous runs without having to listen to a bunch of trash talk. But as fate would have it we got in on the loosing side of a particularly one sided match. Tensions were high and many harsh words were spoken by 2 of the 24 players on our side. They did this sporaticly for all of 2 minutes of a 12 min match. Not pleasant for my warden friend's first time but she stuck with it for 2 more matches that day before needing to camp. My point is. 1 out of 40 matches had 2 minutes out of a 12 minute match sporatically spiced with flavorful language spoken by 2 of the 24 players on my team, which didn't phase my female british warden friend. Not exactly a major issue IMO. The corpse sitting(?) is a different issue however.... |
