Hi,

In my games folder in windows 7 there are many many copies of Everquest 2 and also just the icon for it. I can't delete them and everytime I go into the game it makes a new one. HELP! My folder is full of eq2 icons and exe files! It doesn't do this with any other game.

thanks!

same for me... 226 copies and counting

maybe it have to do something with game itself not being installed but just copied, but i have another games that are just copied and have only 1 icon.

at least i know how many times i runned eq after installing win7 (shouldnt count last week since zoning takes so stupidly long so its faster to rerun the game )

Is this Windows 7?  If so, it's a known issue at the moment.  I wish I had a workaround for you but I don't know of one at the moment.  Hopefully it will be fixed in the near future.

I'm just wondering if there's any news on a workaround, or fix for this problem?

Sadly, no.  I'm hoping that it will get corrected soon but I have not received any new information about it recently.  I'm sorry for the inconvenience this is causing in the meantime.

Hi,  I found this thread as I am having a fresh install of Window 7 and wanted to check if there were issues.

I am going with the home version, 64 bit.

My question is are these copies actually taking up hard drive space, more then icons.   Is it downloading game again?

I do not think that they are taking up space to be honest...  I can not see my system being able to hold 325 versions of EQII Desert if Flames

I think that it is just icons in the games directory that I can not click at all...

Thanks for the responses.  I will check out that link.   I downloaded the latest launcher and am doing a clean install,  not in program files as was suggested at the launcher site.  I am hoping that will work.

64% downloaded since 10pm alst night lol.   It is moving along...

You're not the only enquiring mind wanting to know how this is doing; at home, we need to upgrade our system by quite a bit, and our favorite mom-n-pop computer store (the one that made our system from the ground up) insists that they only carry parts for Windows7 systems nowadays.  The main things I'm concerned about are EQ2, WoW, and WordPerfect being compatible; I figure either everything else will be, or I won't care that much. ;->

But if this is the only issue still vexing EQ2 users, I guess I should count myself lucky. ;->

The major cause of this issue has been fixed but there are still situations that can result in multiple entries in your registry that would make multiple icons appear in the games folder.  There is registry fixes to repair this but it isn't something I can directly recommend.  You will need to do your own research on that particular method.

All in all that is what is happening here.  Multiple entries in the registry and more often than not there are no actual additional EQ2 game folders.
