no no transfer cost has been halved, merge the servers and all you get is more crowding in hte high level zones on the servers. merge will not help the lower level zones

![]() Everybody thinks that merging servers is some magical ritual that will usher-in a golden age of cooperation and result in getting instant groups for any instance or raid you could consider attempting. Guess what, the world doesn't work that way. Server merges are a huge pain that usually involves lost of duplicate names, downtime, heavy lag, and a total upset of both previous servers' established communities. And when the smoke clears, you find out that there still aren't enough people under level 70 to form a decent dungeon group at 3 AM. The reason you can't find a group for whatever specific outing you have in mind could very well be due to the fact that EQ2 has 6 expansions more content than it had at launch, while server hardware has remained largely the same (though they're doing their best to update it where possible). This means that the world is massively larger, with lots more to do, while the population of the world has remained basically static. Even if the overall server populations were doubled, you still have twice as many people spread across five times as much content compared to launch, so the active population that is interested in doing what you want to do today will seem smaller. Basically, the server populations are by-and-large healthy, it's just that the majority of those healthy populations may not be immediately interested in doing what you're recruiting for. |

![]() If I recall a bit back before expansion was released a dev did comment on possibly looking at server populations. Even though this game is 6 expansions in we don't have as many active players as we did even when RoK was released. They are aware fully aware there is possibly less active players this expansion around then last expansion for I've of yet seen 6 to 8 instances availble of the Fronteir like back when RoK came out so thier is less players so a merge is most likely a possibly now then two years ago. |

![]() They should just offer free transfers off of AB. You guys can have our extra players, and we'll take your lack of spell/CA lag! |

The server populations are fine now especially after the expansion alot of people re-activated their accounts. There are atleast 2 sundered frontiers @ all times on my server and Butcherblock had one of the lowest server populations. Keep in mind that the game is over 5 years old also. You're not going to find a huge population of players in the low & mid levels in any older MMO. |

![]() There is a link on EQ2-Daily to the original post by Rothgar talking about server merges/server upgrades. Lizzoraus@Blackburrow wrote:
On Runnyeye which is apparently a medium population server I've seen between 2-4 Sundered Frontiers running recently, I certainly would not want a merge just yet And according to Brenlo who said that EQ2 was on a uptick (or something similar) and external MMO subscriber tracking sites that put EQ2 as being stable on subscribers (both based on 3-6 month old data though) it sounds likely the population isn't falling. I do still wonder though, if Runnyeye was designed say to run 5000 (pure guess/random number) players in 2006, does this mean its exactly the same hardware today? Because I would expect that with natural hardware advances a server would be able to handle 10,000 players now. If so then it would make sense that if the subscriber base is stable we should expect server merges if they upgrade the hardware... Anyway, one last comment to make, for sub level 80 stuff it is probably the quietest point in the game for now with so many people in SF. |

![]() Honestly, the grass is never greener. If you *believe* that it is, roll an alt on the server you think would be better and check it out. If you like it, then pay for transfers or re-roll over there. It's just that simple. Remember, SOE charges for server transfers, unless you want to move to the Exchange server. They have zero reason to give you free what they are very successfully charging folks for via Station Cash. Also remember that Station Cash is a VERY GOOD THING, because having healthy income streams for SOE means that they can pay their staff to make our fun for us. So, either pony up for the transfer via Station Cash, re-roll, or learn to be satisfied with your current server environment.

A server merge will do absolutly 0 for the "growup populations" 0+0 still equal 0, all a server merge will do will increase the overpopulation of the 70-90 zones and do absolutely nothing for the 1-70 game. Guess your best bet is to go play another game then

![]() About name changes... How will SOE determine who gets the "x" added to their name? Do they base this off of creation date, Level, or Playtime??? |
