Hello, I just had a quick, simple question.

I'm pretty new, and have a little nest egg now thanks to the festival (), so I can afford some spells and such. I'm going to go ahead and invest in my necromancer's Undead Knight spells for 12 and 24 now, because I plan to spend a lot of time level locking and grinding AA's, so I'll be leveling pretty slowly.

My question is thus. From the perspective of a newer player who can't spend gold frugally, and intends to level slowly, is it worth spending 13 platinum (all my money) on Undead Knight III (Master) as opposed to 2 platinum on (Expert)?

Thanks in advance.

Not really, no. Your best bet is to scribe the Expert version, and hit the Research Assistant. You'll have the Master in your spell book within a couple days.

Quoted for truth.

If you're going to be level locking spend 2 plat on the expert and use the research assistant to get the master for free.

I know in Neriak you can find him in the New Foreign Quarter, near the horse stable.

Also, random question. Has anyone else had trouble finding Undead Knight IV Expert-Master, or is it just my server? I've been checking the broker daily and asking in auction channel daily for about two weeks now and I had so much as an insanely overpriced offer yet.

In general low level masters are either extremely rare, or extremely overpriced for new players.

Your best bet is to just not worry about masters too much until you start coming across the "irreplacable" masters (Dark Heart at 18, raidwide Heart at 73, Dooming Darkness at 51, Resurrection at 48, and everything level 81+, I believe). Anything that's not irreplacable gets upgraded. And for the irreplacables, the Research Assistant is your friend.

I like mastering the pet spells because I lock for a long time when I get them. I used Master II and III but IV seems like an impossible find.

Fair enough.

You could always farm them. The rule of thumb for lower levels is that the level of the mob = approximately the level of the master. IE you kill a level 35 mob, and it will drop a level 35 master.

I solved the master problem by becoming a sage. Make expert, wait for researcher, profit. I tried using the lower ones a couple times, just feels like it doesn't have the staying power the master does.
