I can't read the font, several others i know are having the same problem that I know of.

You can have all your quests ticked so you just select whats in your current zone, you have to find one to untick and retick the new one.

The old system and text was better, you just clicked on the quest and the helper showed.

Why was it changed?

Because it's soe's world and they said they wanted it. No reason to fix something that wasn't broken in my opinion. Ton of stuff that they "fixed" for us.

The new system is so much better than the old one. The font is perfectly readable for me and I find the way quests are added or removed to be quite intuitive.

I have to agree about the text.  The default font and/or line spacing makes it more difficult for me to read.  I haven't messed around with trying to change the font from the default yet, but my previous experience with trying to enlarge the text font is that it doesn't stick and has to be constantly reset.

I'm not seeing the problem with the quest checking.  All of mine are unchecked and I am able to just check the quest I want to display.  It's an additional step more than before, but not too much extra trouble.

I have to agree.  There could undoubtedly be improvements... that's what /feedback is for SMILEY.  And there are some settings in options that you can use to try to make it more helpful for yourself.  You can totally turn off auto pinning of quests and moving updated quests to the top of the list if you dislike all that.

The new one is MUCH more readable. Custom UIs may be messing it up for some?

problems:

When there is more in there than fits in the window, it needs an indication that there is content to scroll down to or a scroll bar.

If you delete a quest it is not removed from the helper at all.

I'm liking the new quest helper. Actually turned off the beloved custom UI to see the new changes, and probably some old changes, to the default UI.  Pretty surprised at how much I'm liking the default UI.

The new QH is quite handy.

I have no custom UI, I am not good at changing that stuff. I noticed in game also some people have no problem but a lot of people can't seem to be able to read the words clearly. It seems blurry and a bit fuzzy.

Is there a way to change the font? I can put up with the checking system, one thing thats really got me a bit grr at the system though, if you can't check all your quests. At about 10 or so it won't allow you to check anymore. (not sure on actual number)

If they jsut added a little box saying "Check All" so you can have all of them selected not just 10 or so, and then added a "Change Font" drop down with the old font in there. It would be really awesome and everything fixed to how it was for those with problems with the change.

All I know is that without my quest helper playing the game is going to be a lot harder, if it was just me i would drop it and go play something else, but soem of my guildies, not to mention my family are having problems also and I group with them the most.

I don't know about all of you but when I play EQ2 I don't play alone. I have around 30 or so  quests on the go and I finish them with the people I started them with. EQ2 is great for questing, theres a countless number of them. My journal is full and I am over halfway through 30 of the quests in my journal, would be nice if they were all able to be selected, so when I form that group I won't have to untick something that I might forget to retick, three times since update I thought my quest helper was broken.

Anyway if anyone knows how to change fonts, etc. Can you try explain it to me?

Did a little dance when I checked out the new helper/journal. Love it, and perfectly readable for me at 1360 x 768

Under Options -> User Interface -> Game Windows there are some options to control font smoothing and to use a smaller font.  Try changing those to see if it helps.

Previously, you could only see one.  Now you can see more than one.  That's gotta help, right?

Yes I love the new system! Great work!

But I can see where some people are coming from tho. The font and color are quite bright and become a focus point on the screen and thus an unwelcome distraction.

I just decreased the brightness in the window options, so the quest helper isn't such a dominant presence on the screen. So that worked for me.

I guess for most people, they just need to get used to it. Before you had the questhelper as little window somewhere high up in a corner, while now with multiple quests checked, it takes up considerable more space in the UI.

It was in WOW therefore it has to be in EQ2, thats how EQ2 development process is going. Battlegrounds were in WOW therefore they must be in EQ2.

Dude. Give it a rest already! /Facepalm

Battlegrounds weren't invented by Blizzard. So give us a break. As Blizzard copied BG's from Dark Age of Camelot.

Nothing in WoW was original. Blizzard just picked out the best stuff from other MMO's and put it in theirs. That's all.

Please, please, pleeeaassseee go back to WoW if that is how you feel.

Every MMORPG that exists is based on ideas that existed in earlier MMORPG's, in MUD's or in other types of games. The fact that EQ2 got something new does not mean that this is because of WoW, The development team saw a chance to improve the game and did just that. The weird thing is that, when WoW implements something "new", nobody makes remarks like: EQ/DAoC/MUD2 did this earlier.

MMORPG's evolve and change. Deal with it.

Yes - it needs a scroll bar - otherwise I think it's a good idea to have several quests up at once.

I would expect to see mods for the new quest helper at EQ2Interface.com soon. Keep checking. All of the settings can be adjusted via the XML, so expect to see various mods appear.

I am not sure about profit, biit if you open up your journal, there should be places to check along side the quests.  Check the ones that you would like to show on your helper....

I am moving this to the Look and Feel forum for now SMILEY

Nope.  Don't have anything other than what SOE patches to my system.

What might make the difference in readability between people is possibly some graphics settings.  I have it on very high graphics quality and something close to 1600x1200.  The text is just as small as before, but got thicker, more closely squashed together.

I haven't played around with finding a way to make it more readable yet, but I'm hoping.

Not so far. One in that window was enough since I use it for the partiuclar quest I am concentrating on at the time. The quest journal helps me check out any of the other quests I am working on (which has been near the maximum for about 5 years).

But that is insignificant compared to it becoming much less readable.

I play with the default UI on 1920 x 1080 resolution. (My HD TV doubles as my monitor.) Hopefully I will be able to increase the font size, ideally change it back to the old appearance.

The old system and text was better, you just clicked on the quest and the helper showed.

Why was it changed?

I wish they hadn't changed it. It wasn't broken. ANy option to go back to the old system. - FONTS SUCK>

I play on a 24" LCD at 1920x1200 and I love it. I even made the window larger than the default. It is particularly useful when you are in a new area and you get several new quests for that area as it allows you to see all of your objectives for that area at a glance without clicking through the quest journal.

I should also note that I have played several other MMOs that employed this style of quest helper and I found it to be much better than the old EQ2 window.

I agree.  Why fix things that weren't broken.  I used to be able to play these kinds of games on an 8086.  Why do I need more hardware to play today's games?  >West  >South  >Put batteries in flashlight  Why did we need to add all these graphics things?  I enjoyed the danger of being eaten by a grue

Seriously though, I can understand having an issue with the font (although I don't) and wanting an indicator to show when they scroll off the screen to the top or bottom. But come on.  Being able to show more than one quest at a time is awesome.  Prior to that, you could only see one quest at a time.  Think of quests like the repeatables just outside Danak in JW where the quest giver gives you 4 quests at the same time.  Prior to this change, you had to keep hitting J to see where you were on the quests.  Now, you just pin all 4 to the quest helper and track all 4 at the same time.  Vast improvement on the old quest helper window.  One of my favorite new features with SF.

PS: Some of those that don't like the fact that they changed it may want to check out Who Moved My Cheese. SMILEY

It can take some getting used to for sure.  When you are used to it, then you find it really can help you.  Take Paineel - I'd go and get 3-4 quests, and finished them all before heading back.  The window showing the last few quests I accepted really helped because it reminded me of the multiple things I needed to do in the same area before heading back.  The old way of switching between them in the journal and only seeing one at a time would definitely not have helped as much.

It needs a scroll bar -- there is no way to put the quest you want to work on at the top without playing around with checking and unchecking. It creates unnecessary work and should not have been change.

you used to be able to click on a quest in your book and have it automatically go to the top of the quest HElper - NO MORE - now you have to go through the PITA of checking and unchecking stuff.

THIS WAS NOT A GREAT FIX - also having two colors makes it less readable in various zones - really PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD ONW.

A scroll bar would be very helpful!
