I know the most obvious answer is to eat or drink, so please don't give me that answer! SMILEY

Once upon a time, long, long ago, there was a way to get the "you are hungry/thirsty" messages to stop reminding you of your thirst or hunger. I know this for sure, as I did it on a couple of my characters a very long time ago, and to this day they do not get the reminders to eat or drink, and that is with auto consume turned OFF.

I don't use auto consume, because I spend a lot of time harvesting and just exploring, and I haste wasting food. Plus I don't have the plat to spend on good food/drink to have it wasted as I loiter around, hehe.

So, does anyone remember what this command was? Or have they removed it from the game to apease all the provisioners?

Tink

I really don't think the provisioners care, and yes, I have a level 80 provisioner.

There may be some text option to get rid of the thirsty/hungry messages but I don't know it.

The home villages have npcs that sell 10 hours of food for 1 silver, and 5 hours of drink for 1 silver.  That's what I tend to use to get rid of the thirsty/hungry messages on toons when expensive stat food doesn't matter.

missing the point here, I know there are tons of ways to get around the messages. I'm simply asking if anyone remembers the command.......

Not missing the point when you say you don't have the plat to spend on food, and there's a 1 silver option available.

I'd check here.

I just took out my contacts so sitting 2 inches from the screen much more will blind me.  Either that, or just put those notices on a different chat tab.

I think I saw something under the Chat commands tab, try right-clicking the question mark and going under character/system messages on the left hand side of the box. You might have to click on a bunch of + to find it and try different ones.

I also have a level 80 Prov, and he feeds my level 80 wizzy who harvests for said Prov. (Confused yet? SMILEY ) I also turn off auto consume, not to save money but to save the time needed to create all that stuff, especially since I feed the Guild.

Based on this thread alone.. I vote that not having food/drink equipped causes health and power loss out of combat. Things have gotten way too easy if this is an inconvenience.

Spyder, Tinkr asked a simple question. Is there a command to turn off the "You are thirsty" You are hungry" notification. Since you're the master of Zam, that question should have been right up your alley, yet you make with the snarky comments instead of actually trying to help. Shame on you.

Tinkr, this is probably the most complete list of slash commands out there, at least that I can find. Ironically enough, they're on the Allakhazam website. If the command you're looking for exists, it's buried in the mists of time. Maybe a kindly redshirt will be able to help shed some light on the subject.

I...kind of remember a change to the food and drink...

But I thought the change was that you could auto consume..

I just have no recollection of the turning off of notifications.

Fixed it for yoU!! lol. I also have a provis, she was my first crafter (what kind of crafter would I be without telling you I kept her near max level when T6 came out hehe). Nope we don't care.. there's no you are out of armor or potions message after all.

I am pretty sure there is no way to turn it off, I also find it annoying as a large part of my gameplay the last year almost is doing things that don't require food or drink.

The original commands, /e /d I think they were, to toggle them, stopped working years ago after some food use/slot tweaks.

I don't think you can toggle the food/drink messages without going into Chat Options and unselecting whichever category they fall under (Narrative, I believe). This will also remove some other messages that you might want to see (like: mobs being no longer worth XP, cures, discoveries...etc)

To see what messages would be affected, you can turn on Options > User Interface > Chat Window > Show Chat Category Names, and this will display the category on the same line as the text, and then turn it off again when you're satisfied.

Alternatively, you could shift the Narrative category to a different/hidden chat tab, but still, you'd lose visibility of all "Narrative" chat.

Based on your post, it goes to show how little people do read and comprehend at times...

You need to probably go re-read the OP's post there Spyder. The OP doesn't want to waste food/drink on a toon that harvests and loiters about...whats the problem in that?

Honestly, I don't think there is currently a slash command tat turns off the eat/drink notices. There used to be a couple of commands, but they didn't affect the notifications:

/STOPDrinking - Ends the drink when thirsty ability. /STOPEating - Ends the eat when hungry ability.

And I don't think these commands work now.

I believe the only answer is to right-click the Chat window, select Chat Options, and then thrash around with the settings until the message goes away.

I disagree with this entirely. If your character is very hungry and thirsty they should be more motivated to kill and very ruthless. They shouldn't be able to disengage combat, and immediately after the first kill they squat and suck on the bones of the dead for a minute while they ignore any other battles around them, and say stuff like "Oh my gosh, zombie meat never tastes as good as it does when you are camping them! Hand me the oregano.".

I know you said you don't want to waste money on food or drink when you don't need it, but instead of turning off a lot of messages, what if you just bought really cheap food or drink?  Just to keep from seeing the messages?  you know, level 10 stuff?  You wouldn't really be wasting too much money that way.

I don't use food/drink either. It simply costs me more than I wish to pay for such a small mostly wasted gain when not recovering/soloing.

I appreciate everyone trying to help me with all the ways to "get around" these messages, unfortunately it's not what I was looking for, but rather I was hoping someone could remember the command I used so long ago to get them to stop on my two oldest characters.

I'm thinking that they removed the ability some time ago, cause I can't find it anywhere, and it looks like the community at large can't as well, hehe.  I thought it might have been on a right click in the food/drink slots of your inventory, where you turn auto consume off or on, or possibly it might have been in a patch message a very long time ago, but again I'm not sure, as it was so very long ago, and I honestly can't remember exactly how I did it, hehe.

At least the reminders are not pestering me on my two older chars, since I did turn it off on them somehow in the distant past, so I know I'm not imagining it ever being a viable option.  It's just on the more recent toons I'll have to use one of the way to "get around" the reminders, if it annoys me too much.

Thanks all. SMILEY

The station knowledge base has an entry that was first entered in July 2004

"To stop your character from automatically eating or drinking items in a stack, use the /stopeating or /stopdrinking commands."

I think the operative phrase here is "...in a stack..." but it sounds like the command you remember.

Give it a try and let us all know if it works ))

You might also try, carefully (after making a backup even) checking yoiur *.ini files, espeically the ones for those older characters. Lots of those types of instructions are in there /start_move off etc. You never know.

I remember such a command in EQ1, but I don't recall there ever being such a command in EQ2. The only ways I've known of people getting rid of them is moving them to a different chat window.

Good lucking finding something that works for you though, and should you locate an actual command to turn them off, don't forget to share it on the forums =).

There is no command to see that message.

The one everyone keeps useing is the command to stop eatintg and drinking  not the message itself.

So your stuck to use   crappy food and  drink if the message bothers  you that much.

On a side note you should be noticably weaker if dont eat or drink ...please put this feature in game!
