Hi,

I was on the outpost of Gorrywn? beach( the one with the pirates), then somehow went somewhere else when I died. Then from there I accidently clicked a carpet which took me to sinking sands. I basically just died like over 15 times, my food and drink is all gone, my equipment is all deteroriated, and I have no idea how get back to the map which is more suited to my level, which is 12. Everything in Sinking Sands kills me in one blow and I'm not trying to attack it, just when I'm trying to find the carpet I came on, I'm just running, and then I just die. My mouse just randomally clicks what it wants I just have no idea how to get out without dying. I'm currently on the launch ship loading dock.

Should I just restart my character and just redo everything from the beginning?

My computer lags a lot so I know I shouldn't play this game, but my friend gave it to me as a gift, and I activated the trial. However, he went on vacation, so I'm stuck messing around the game with myself.

If you right click on the carpet, where you landed in the first place you will get a list of places to go. Including the place you came from.

When you die in SS you should be reviving around the docks right?  The carpet to get back to gorowyn is near the docks on the left under a tent but you have to right click it and choose "return to gorowyn".  Also if you have your call ability you can cast that and it teleports you back.

The problem is, I can't find the carpet. Right when I revived, some other player killed me right way because I was fixing my EQ controls. So then I didn't know where to revive and just picked one, then preceded to get pummeled by everything there. There was one carpet that I found without dying that took me to uh, the place where there's a Library of Light, Maj'Dul?

Was that the carpet I'm supposed to take?

Yes that was the carpet you were supposed to take but you need to right click it.  And what do you mean a player killed you?

Poor OP must be playing on a PvP Server, and got ganked.

Two Solutions:

1) If you are a Sarnak, you can hit K, select Abilities, and Call to Gorowyn. Takes maybe 5 seconds or so.

2) If you are indeed playing with a lower-tier computer, my serious suggestion is to pick a NON PvP Server. Come back when you have a better computer, not to mention understand the game better.

I've been in EQ2 since launch, and *I* don't do PvP because I'm more than half blind. No to mention preferring the nice feeling that comes from helping folks as opposed to proving how big my rear end is...

To be clear, you don't HAVE to be a Sarnak to have Gorowyn as your home city. I am a dark elf and I moved to Gorowyn as soon as the zone was released. When you start a new character, some of them have a choice of starting in Gorowyn, so it's not a rule that you have to be a Sarnak to live there. You have to be evil to have a house in Gorowyn, but being a Sarnak is not a requirement.

You can use you 'call to home city' spell which will be listed either on your hot bar or you can find it by hitting 'K' and looking through your list of abilities.

If you are in Maj Dul right now, you can use the carpet at the city gate and choose to go to Sinking Sands. When you get to sinking sands, you will be at a carpet by the docks. RIGHT CLICK on that carpet and you will be given a list of options of cities/places you can fly to. Choose Timorous Deep or Darklight Woods since those are both newbie areas. Timorous Deep will take you back to Gorowyn. Darklight Woods will take you over by Neriak.

Edited: I listed incorrect information because I was looking at another map for HQ information while typing this. LOL!

You can also run up the beach from the sinking sands docks and you will eventually see a path heading up the beach on your right side. Run up that path and you can talk to a Sarnak at the top of the hill. He will place you on a griffon that will return you to Gorowyn.

I think you are confusing Sinking Sands with Butcher Block Mountains.

Oh yeah, heh never mind. I was looking at another map at the time I typed that. Disregard about the path in BB, the other info still is correct.

This is what I get for looking at HQ information on one map, while typing in forums. LOL!

Just to clear up the misconception. A "gank" consists of a group of 2 or more players attacking a solo player. The OP clearly stated "some player" attacked him. Which may have been a typo and he might have meant plural. But, if he typed it correctly..

He was merely attacked.. which is part of the PvP experience and hardly derogatory thing.

Edit: It sounds to me that being attacked by another player didn't upset or confuse him. So, I'm don't understand why people are encouraging him to leave the PvP server? He might have chosen it intentionally.

Fair enough. And, I agree. For the squeemish and easy to frustrate new players, it is a good idea to learn the game mechanics first on a PvE server before going to PvP.

For those with tougher skins though.. I believe in Trial by Fire. You learn a lot about survival tactics in the first few levels on a PvP server.

Also, I know many people who have started on a PvE server, but didn't want to start over on a PvP server because of the time and resources invested in their character, but unaware that there is no transfers available from PvE to PvP.

My advice for the latter.. don't invest too much in to your PvE character if your end intention is to play on PvP. Just learn the UI and get a feel for the environment and chat rooms and how the quest system works. That's all you really need to have a good grip on before playing on a PvP server.

Also, remember that there are some very important differences in the rule sets and no matter how much time you spend "practicing" on a PvE server, you are going to be just as unprepared in regards to PvP as you would if you had rolled there from day one.

Heh.. took me a week to realize that if I'd just stayed put after dying instead of trying to make a run for the WFG from the Ruins.. I probably would have saved myself a few hundred needless deaths.

If he was in Maj'Dul it might not even have been a player that attacked him. It could have been an agro guard. If the OP is only level 12, he probably had never seen agro guards before. I don't think PVP should be factored in at all here. He either chose it on purpose (some people love PVP! SMILEY ) or he is on a PVE server and was attacked by a guard or some other mob.

Let's just get this poor player HOME! SMILEY

PS - Feel free to point and laugh at me because of my previous post and the misinformation. I was looking at the dark mail gauntlets HQ info while reading the forums here and some wires in my brain got crossed. LOL!

If you haven't picked a faction in Maj Dul the guards will leave you alone even if you are 12.  However there are some citizens who will attack anyone.

In all fairness, hes a noob caught in a 40+ zone, killing him was at the very least poor sport.

There is a reason new players shouldnt start on PVP, this is only 1 of many. Most carebears dont make it to 20 on a pvp server before they get frustrated and chuck it. IF you have never played either type of server try PVP first. If you like it you will hate PVE and typically vice versa. For those that dont like PVP they usually thrive in the PVE server environment.

If your computer is that laggy, definately don't start the game on a PVP server (there are other reasons already noted).   You'll frustrate yourself to the point of quitting without giving the game a fair chance.  You can also try toning down your settings considerably under options and see if that helps performance.

I would also suggest going with a server that already has a high population, simply because you'll have more people to get help from and (hopefully) have less issues finding grouping companions.

It is refreshing to see a newer player getting into the game.  I hope you stick with it and get up to the level where you can get some revenge in Sinking Sands SMILEY
