![]() We've added a new feature to EQII! Tired of missing the MOTD that tells you when a Live Event is going to end? Want to know when the next scheduled downtime is going to happen? |

![]() While I appreciate the effort of the developers, I would like to know if possible how to disable this screen. Thanks. |

Here's an idea that would make it more useful, but not sure if it's possible - display this while loading...?

![]() I find it to be increadibly useful. You can catch game info and what not just by logging in. Messages on forums are no longer hidden away from everyone else. Don't have to go digging for Downtime anymore. Great add-on! |

![]() Give an option to disable or customize what's displayed, please. It's annoyingly big and includes things I don't need to see in a separate window when I log in. MOTD goes to chat. Guild MOTD also goes to chat AND displays in my guild window if I want to check up on it later. I have very few friends who are not also guildies, and since friends lists don't transfer between characters on an account anyway, I don't bother with them; too much pain in the rear to remember to update the friends on every character I have. And the less I see of SmedCash, the happier I will be. |

![]() I've done that. But most people won't know to do that. And anyone who doesn't use a custom UI doesn't even have an eq2.ini file to edit. All other window controls are handled through the Options, either under Controls or User Interface. That's the first place most people are going to check. The disable option should be there. |

This is true. My boyfriend (who rarely reads forums) went and voted on spell names after he saw it on the Welcome Screen. I have 2 accounts and alt-hop multiple times a game session, and honestly the screen doesn't both me at all - I just click "Close" on the bottom of the screen. /shrug

No, the "welcome screen" that they're talking about here is in-game, not part of the launcher. It doesn't make a difference how you start the client. It's easy enough to disable, if you read the forums of course. And conceptually, it's not a bad thing, I'm just not particularly fond of the implementation. It can't be disabled through the UI, it's not customizable to provide the information that I'm actually interested in (someone in another post suggested having it show what the daily double mission was, and that's a great idea), and it's shown each and every time that you switch toons. That edges it into the "annoyance" category, in my opinion. Rothgar has already stated that what we got isn't what they originally envisioned, and they may yet end up making it customizable. If they do that, then I'll think about re-enabling it. For now, it stays disabled. |

![]() We had these great recipes lined up for our restaurant, and we were gonna get some talented chefs in to make all our food. But the initial outlay was too expensive, so we opened up close to MacDonalds and copied their menu, then for the first week we sold burgers and ran across the street to get them. Of course, they were cold by the time our customers got them. But at least we opened on time. Strangely enough, no-one came back in the second week.

![]() I have no problem with it. Its basically just a button click away for dismissing it if there's nothing new on the Welcome Screen. What I would like to know.. is how to disable the time stamp and fps at the top of the screen. |

Yah.. that was the first thing I tried since I toggle F11 a lot to follow my fps in certain areas. However, I'm not talking about the FPS window. I'm talking about the big yellow time in the upper right corner and big yellow FP in the upper left corner.. it just popped up yesterday with the patch. |

![]() The Welcome Screen is an annoyance to some of us, despite some of you responding by commenting here that it doesn't bother you. All that is being asked for is an option to not have to see it anymore. All of you saying that you don't mind it -> that's fine, you will also have the option to see it every time. And an option in-game is always better than having to tweak some file. That is not user friendly for many of us playing the game. |

Create a new file called eq2.ini with just that line in it. Most players run atleast eq2maps, so they generally have the ini file. Beyond that, the window is a complete [Removed for Content] and is grossly overpersistent. I DO NOT need to see it more than once/day/session, seriously.

This could be useful. However please add a turn on/off option to the options menu.

![]() Another waste of time on the part of the dev team! I disabled it before ever seeing it based on the other thread yesterday, it is unecessary and unwanted, I like my $14.99 a month the way it is thanks. I'll pay $20.00 a month if you fix things IN the game instead of this kind of useless stuff.

![]() I can understand SoE's promotion and advertising ingame. It's a way to encourage folks to purchase items from SoE and to make sure there are plenty of opportunities of awareness of events happening. However, it is rather annoying when I change characters and the welcome screen keeps popping up. I have 5 characters and I'm sure many have more on one account. Then there are those with 2, 3, 4 accounts who have an entire choir of characters they 2-3-4 box. I can imagine how even more annoying having to click off those welcome boxes everytime it appears for each character and when one changes a character. Perhaps SoE in their wisdom and zealousness didn't consider that possibility. It would behoove them to have the welcome screen appear once per account, then have a way of turning it off after it first appears.Perhaps it can be done with a check box on the welcome screen that says something like "off". Then it won't appear again no matter how many times one switches characters on that account, during that session. It would then re-appear the next time the person logs into the game. There could also be a permanent turn-off under options for those who do not wish to view the welcome screen at all or an option such as /welcome similar to /claim when one wants to view what items they have claimed or not claimed to date. This way, SoE can still get their message across, but without the annoyances. Those annoyances tend to leave negative feelings for customers of SoE. I'm sure that's not what SoE had in mind . . . or maybe they did! heh |

Maybe not. But, it is a solution none the less. Seems to me that people are complaining just because its something else to complain about. It doesn't annoy me personally as I find some of the information on the Welcome Screen informative. However, I can understand how unbearablely frustrating this must be for those with such finite patience that a single click might drive them over the edge. |

Negative, we pay a monthly fee so we don't have to have in game advertising the way other companies do. It makes the game feel cheap. F2P games I expect it in, not SOE's flagship game. Had they put this through test " still not there at time of this posting" they would have found some of the other problems caused by this being added. Why do we have a test server again? No updates since last month....sadd.

What are "these other problems caused"? I haven't heard a single one except that people don't want to look at it. The most valid point I've read in all the various threads is somebody who did a login during raid and insta-died. Under the circumstances that person described their need to re-log it seemed to be an exploit anyways. Besides that.. where are all these "problems" its causing in game besides an annoyance from a handful of people who treat any sight of Station Cash like a vampire confronted with a crucifix? |

![]() Ever hear folks complain in game that they didn't know a change was going to happen or missed an event? That's what that window is good for. With the launchpad eventually going away, there's no handy information clearing house for those who don't read the forums. I stil like it. It's one click. The only problem I had with the patch was that all my windows reset their background to the defaut transparent, which I don't like. |

So let me get this right (I already know the answer, but I'm gonna ask anyway)... Because YOU are not annoyed by it, and YOUR opinion is clearly the "right" one, then everything is hunky dorey! And those that ARE annoyed by a pop up screen full of useless crap are just looking for "something else to complain about"? You do know that all the information on the welcome screen can be seen by *GASP* pushing one button (y/u depending on what information I want to see) WHEN I WANT, rather than having it shoved in my face on start up, with annoying advertisements for Station Cash and LON.

![]() The concept is pretty cool. It has good information but I really only need to see it once per session. If I need to refer to it again its easily accessible from the EQII button menu. Would be great if it could be customized to fit our individual needs / wants. Like zone timers instead of the friends on/offline list. |
