My accounts characters cannot log in and play...

Everytime I try to log in with my character, it comes to a loading screen and then instead of loading into the game, it just goes back to the character screen. It was doing this on my trial version sometimes and now that I have purchased the game it is still doing it.

Also, my characters are just wearing cloth pants...not their normal armor and I created a new character and I tried to delete it and it says "failure to delete for unknown reason"

Bah, this sucks.

It sounds like your game files are not updating correctly due to some kind of internet security software. Do you have some kind of firewall or antivirus software installed? Which? Have you tried deactivating them temporarily?

You might also be able to work around the problem by deleting the game settings files so that the launchpad can redownload fresh versions. You may want to delete the following files and folders:

cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.ini

I am reinstalling the game and it is patching now, so hopefully that will solve any problems.

But the thing is, I was playing on my main character earlier and it worked fine.

Let us know whether or not a reinstall corrects the problem.

After the reinstall and patching....it still is not working...not really sure what else to do

This really sounds like an antivirus or firewall blocking the game. Do you use any internet security on your computer? If so, which programs?

I have the same problem. I reformated my computer when vista crapped out. I use bit defender anti-virus

I can log into the game, but can't see any of my toons.

in the web pane, I can see the details of my characters, but the drop down says character select unavailable

Greetings,

The character select on the launch pad will always say unavailable until the first time you access the game. Hit the play button without selecting a character, then select your character on the next screen that opens and enter the game world. The list on the launchpad should update at that point with your list of characters.
