So far I haven't gotten either one after a total of about 10ish runs between my 3 crafters that did the mara access stuff. But I was looking at them on eq2players and I see something really wrong with them. Unless its wrong on players, both are usable by the folloing classes: Templar , Berserker , Shadow Knight , Crusader , Priest , Guardian , Bruiser , Cleric , Brawler

What about scouts and mages??? These a huge effect on them, the 3% xp gain, and 10% success chance.. These should be changed, why should a tradeskill item be limited to adventure classes?

There have always been class-limited crafting boost items:

  • Unargin's Smithy Hammer (level 47 fighter/priest, from Unargin the Blacksmith in Nek3) +20 metal shaping and metalworking bonus
  • A Sewing Needle (level 67 mage/scout/berzerker/guardian, from Nek3), +6 tailoring

I dont see what the 2 items has to do with adventuring classes at all.

Furthermore, I find it very unfair that the 3%xp gain and 10% success chance only are for certain classes. This needs to be changed asap.

I use several of those myself on some of my chars. But here's the key, They do not drop inside a tradeskiller only zone!!!! And there is not one existing equavliant to the rolling pin & spoon for every "adventure" class. Also the items are level 60 so low adventuer high level TSers get left out. I'm not crazy about that fact as 2 of my TSers are very low adventure, but this isn't as big a deal to me as the whole 10% success rate for everyone but scouts & mages.

Does anyone have a game link? There is the slight chance eq2traders is wrong?

I 100% agree that these should not be limited to certain classes. My wizard/provie is not happy!

I don't have access to the eq2 players links, but there are no adventuring limits on these items in-game.  I have 2 level 10 mage adventurers with them.  The only requirement is being at least a level 60 crafter.

Perhaps a designer was a little loose in his specs and merely said to limit it by class expecting the programmer to know that since it was in a tradeskill quest it should be by tradeskill class.  However, the programmer, some of whom don't always think for themselves (I know, I was one), went on autopilot and limited by an adventure class.   I'd expect a rolling pin and spoon to be limited to provisioners, but I'd hope the game would have other goodies for the other trade skill classes.

Thats a big relief.

Thanks for the info

Hokay, looks to be two separate item possibilities when I check the names at http://lootdb.com:

  • aITEM 1456927253 175572662:Deadly Mixing Spoon/a
  • aITEM 299021881 1755726622:Deadly Mixing Spoon/a
  • aITEM 469542091 1462325475:Weighty Rolling Pin/a
  • aITEM 1559814375 37403226:Weighty Rolling Pin /a

I then proceeded with these direct to the game, where I popped them intoi the chat bar so I could take a look:

So, the sky is NOT falling. I do agree that the EQ2Players.com display is hosed up, because it does list adventure classes who could be expected to use crushing weapons.

Edit: Ack! Getting the smileys out of my item links. And, since I was messing with them, I went ahead and added these to EQ2i as well for people to reference easily -- http://lootdb.com doesn't have screenshots of the examine windows yet.

Thanks for clearing that up Sig! I did look on eq2llinks but not lootdb, duh

It would be nice to make all of the old Sol Eye items usable by any TS class as well. I got lucky my alch was a priest and could use Crana's wand, and my scout-tailor could use the nek3 & collection quest sewing needles (both picked and leveled part way up before I knew those items were around), but I'm trying to pick classes for WS & armorer and was thinking a warden and a mage of some type and mage can't use any of the metalsmith items from sol eye.

I took the +4 artifacting hat for my provis from that collection quest, I have always worn it in my TS gear macro (never know if mechanics truly work right and maybe it was helping me with more than t1 alt jewerly hehe) and now I'm HAHAing all my friends who are like whyyyyyy did you keep that???? because every bit helps in those TS instances.

Someone may want to fix eq2players though... though I am probably like one of 5 people who even subscribe to it lol

Just to tell ya .. there IS an adventurer version of the Rolling pin.  It's only related to TS by virtue of having the similar name and graphic.  It drops somewhere in the new adventure instances.  Nothing to do with the Tradeskill version.

Correct.  Someone Discovered the rolling pen today on my server and said it dropped from Outter Stronghold in Guk.
