Are the new purple shinys in the same areas, or did they expand the area or discontinue popping at the 2nd camp?

Both camps, and there seems to be more nodes now too. Not that you'd notice considering how many people are scratching about in the sand for them SMILEY

Too bad that the chances of getting the same Small Worn Trinket over and over and over and over and over and over and over again is still 99.999999999999999999999999%.

They seem to be spawning in the same spot repeatedly. I've seen people just standing around and picking up a new shiney without moving every time it spawns.

Some at least seem to be spawning under the terain, ones that spawned when i fisrt started seem to have stoped and at least one is visible under the cog on the plat form but not harvestable, perhaps more all stuck at the one spot

So let me get this straight... I dutifully took all my chars and collected ALL the part one shinies before the switch, only to find out that for part 2 they left ALL of the shinies in the table?

WHY couldn't this have been done from the start?  WHAT EXACTLY was the POINT of implementing this in such a borked up manner.

This void storyline is absurd, the required tie in to LoN inspired lore is ludicrous, and the unfathomable mechanics of the world event is making me heartily sick of it all.

This has been knowen sence befor it went live(as part 2 was active on test at that time) and players where told not to worry about rushing out to get this collection.

WHY couldn't this have been done from the start?  because they wanted it to be like the second wave of shinies where deeper therefor needed time to uncover. WHAT EXACTLY was the POINT of implementing this in such a borked up manner.

What void Lore is LoN inspired? It was the Lore of this expainsion that inspired LoN. The fact of the matter is the overall void story arc has been inplace and evolving to this point from launch. As for the reason behind the two part shiny quest it was because the Winds and Digging uncovered Deeper relics(collectables), and Gninja has already admited he didn't implement it as well has he could have(by making them seperat quests).

Yup. One would think that the title itself gives away how they determine what "lore" they fit into that game. Legends of Norrath is inspired by the legends of Norrath, both EQ and EQ2. Not the other way around hun.

rare shinys in normal collections = good

live event shinys for limited time collections = good

rare shinys in limited time collections = vomit inducing disgust.

Why oh why do some of these shinys have to be rare. with the whole server wanting to do this....its just mind boggling and sad.

Edited to say:  Don't know what happened to my quote here; was trying to quote someone who said the shinies are spawning in exactly the same location each time.

Exactly.  One spot in particular, one guild has had a character camped there pretty much constantly.  It looks like a good spawn point, but good luck getting any of those shinies.  I tried for awhile, riding around and around in circles, but it looks like the most expedient way to get them will be to buy them for multi-plat on the broker.

Unless -- I've heard a rumor that this set of shinies will remain in the game.  Anyone know about that?  I see a link above hinting at this, but it leads to a six-page thread rather than anything specific.

Yes, this set of shinies will remain in game even after the event has concluded.

Thanks, Gninja, I really appreciate your response.  Let those guys camp the shiny spots, then...I can wait.

You have to wear the mining helmet from Jimbo to be able to see them. Once you have that on, they're in the area around the DIRTY camps.

The real question is though, will people still be able to get the mining helmet to SEE the shinies past the live event...

That is a good question... my guess is, if the shinies are staying then the ability to get the helmet to see them would stay as well. I would imagine that site security is going to be important even after construction is complete... leaving an oportunity for money to be made... would love to see that merchant stay and continue to offer everything he has... the addition of the impreceptible beauty (invisible) appearance clothing to his inventory is awsome and I for one have alts that have not even been made yet  that I'm sure would want those some day

I sure hope that's how it works!  I would love to see the helmet, at least, continue to be available.

It would REALLY be great if Jimbo could be persuaded to stay and continue to offer all he now sells, and if there were ways to continue to assist the DIRTY guys and earn coins.

To be realistic, lets compair previous live events to this live event.. Are any of the rewards just "hanging" around from any of the previous live events?? The answer is no, so I would say that once this live event is done then the ability to get that helm will also be gone. Very possibly it might be reintroduced again in another live event like the see through clothing was rebrought back this time.

TLDR: get the helm now it won't be here after the event.

This is a little different... there are many live event things going on right now... but the purple shinies, as already stated, are staying after it's over... It would make sense to keep the ability to obtain that helmet in game as well...

I would still recommend getting the helmet now, before it ends... until there is some kind of confirmation from those in the know.

As I understand it... all of the purple shinies are now available in game. I haven't completed it myself but I have seen people linking the turn in reward.

Yes all the shinies are now available in game. However the Helmet might not be around in it's same form after the event is over.

So I would go ahead and get the helm for any characters you would like to harvest the shinies after the event is over. Also keep in mind that the amount of shinies will get scaled back so they may be a bit harder to find after the event is over as the digging and sand displacing will not be happening any longer.

Even if the numbers go down, can you make sure that each shiney has an equal chance of being found?

Yesterday I ended up collecting about 4 Small Broken Trinkets in a row, and only picked up 2 of the new 6.

Adding my voice to the above request!

I spent an hour last night harvesting the shinies and came back with between 5-10 of the most common three types, and only two of the others, and I've yet to finish the collection.  Still need two.

They're rare enough as it is, and since you're going to be making them rarer after the event is done, could the ?'s be increased in number at least?

The first D.I.R.T.Y. camp is uber-camped by 15 or more people, all either running around looking or camping where shinies spawn.  The second camp has only three spawn spots and those are camped as well.

The way it all currently is, you either sit on a spawn point, run around in futile circles, or pay lots of plat to complete the collection.
