The Frostfell books and recipes are gone from my main recipe book. What happened to them, and are we getting them back? We did have to buy them and why in the world would they be removed in September?

Um... are they going to use the same materials?  Or should I dump the two Frostfell Shopping Bags of harvests on my alt now?

Should we dump it all Domino?

Most of the same harvests will be used, though there may be one or two new ones and one or two no longer needed (like hearth blueprints for example).  The majority should still be useful.

Were the blue, purple and yellow swaying lanterns in the Frostfell recipe books?  I was looking for the recipe the other day and I couldn't find it even though I know I've made them before.

These were cool lanterns and not really holiday-ish if you know what I mean (at least I didn't think so).  So I'm not sure if they were in those books or not, I just know the recipes are now gone.

And I do find it rather annoying that the books were removed without telling anyone especially because we had to buy them.  I don't mind buying new books with new recipes but why remove the old ones?  Especially if some of the old recipes will be in the new books that I will then have to rebuy.  That's just not nice.

Ok, I'm slightly disgruntled /sigh

Why do new recipes mean you have to get rid of the old recipes? It was wonderful that last Frostfell we could make the OLD recipes as well as new ones....

I just never understand the rationale that it makes it better to take things away when you get new things. Most of us prefer to have things ADDED to our repertoires, not to develop amnesia when we learn anything new. I would like to be excited about new recipes, but now I'm just wondering if the rapidly dwindling supply of blue and yellow lanterns I have will be all I'll ever be able to get, or if the food items I was willing to give to other people because we were actually allowed to make them two years in a row would have been better hoarded for my own projects instead.

Hm. That sort of sucks. I bought all the recipes on a lot of toons each year, can we get our gold back at least for poofing the recipes? Will the new recipes be free somehow, maybe a quest reward?

Umm,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, hello we paid for them recipes and you stole them from us? OMG That's just not right at all I want them back you little halfing thief. SMILEY lol just kidding

Ok, thats not to big of issue but why can't us older players have them? I understand about trying to be fair to new players so they can have same chance of getting same recipes but shouldn't us older players have some perks since we have been playing longer? I guess though all and all it's ok for the market is flooded with Christmas stuff of years past anyways so maybe it might just bring a little value to them again ehh?

Me too.  I've super sized sales crate full of the stuff, just not marked for sale.

Never got my gold back for the geocraft, thaumaturgy, timbercraft, etc books I bought back during subcombines.  May be frustrating that the recipes are just gone, but as we did get full use of them for the time and things they were made available for, I don't think we're being cheated of anything either.

I highlighted this so you can see that you don't have to get rid of any old ones you have from last year...only the ones that were used to make the hearths but might want to wait and see when it comes to the servers I say before you do anything.

Hope we will get back the recipes in one way or other. I decorated a few houses and ran short of some frostfell items and I was hoping I could make some new ones this year.

Little different. You (and I) would have only bought those for 1 maybe 2 toons back in those days, not many people had many diff ts classes and they were pretty cheap to buy. I don't recall for sure but I'm thinking the frostfell books were like 10g or was it 2g? I bought them all of my alts even non crafters, even mules just in case I'd want to use them someday. I figured recipes may change and not be availbe anymore but not go away entirely.

I have to agree with this sentiment.   Even if we are getting a whole slew of new items .. can't we still keep the old set of recipes?  Or, at least the previous combination of '07 & '06 items?  And, add to them with the '08 recipes?

Giftboxes are always useful (though I wish for a few not so obvious Christmas types) ... Tons of people use the Snowdrifts for their Aquariams and I am sure there are people out there just waiting for Frostfell to expand, create or finish off their Aquariams with a few newly made snowdrifts .. The lanterns, the yummy food items ..

I hope this doesn't mean we are losing out on the Turkey .. SMILEY.

Please, give back our Recipe Books that we had already purchased and put the new items into a new recipe book .. "Frostfell Craft-ables 2008" ..

Maybe we're getting some of the Frostfell items as our new recipes with next LU....like those great paper lanterns.......Maybe we aren't losing the recipes, just getting extra new ones.....or they're just being redistributed SMILEY *does the dance of eternal hope and happiness*

Fear not, nobody said the old items would no longer be available.  I suggest putting pessimism and mass panic on hold and adopting a 'wait and see' stance for now.  SMILEY

Just a thought maybe why they are gone is to eliminate recipies that are no longer usable (frostfell fireplaces) and redundant (different sized presents-going the way of the dodo with resizeable house items).

...

I know ! we could speculate on what we want SMILEYI would love new food items for my house and the house of friends : Roasted Ratonga would be very nice for Kerras ? Fried Grelock Legs ? Gnome Burgers for Iksar or Trolls ? crumble of fae wings ?

Dangit, htere goes my tinfoil hat consession.I'd remind folks that Domino was a crafter LONG before she was a dev, and has suffered the loss of books and recipes along with us.  I'm sure she didn't just delete those recipes on a whim.

And it still would have been nice to have been informed that the recipe books were being removed rather than thinking I'm going crazy because I couldn't find these recipes when I KNOW I've made them before.

'Tis hard not to worry when it's rather unusal for you (or any dev) to take a book from our current listings .. without those items being gone for good.

Usually, you just change or add the new componet/recipe to the current book we have or give us completely new additional books to purchase for the new items.

So .. Are the "old" recipes going to be magically re-appearing in our Recipe Book at Frostfell or are we going to have to re-buy them again?

I don't mind buying new recipes but I rather dislike having to re-buy something I had already paid for across 10 characters .. even at only 2 gold.

I have to pinch my coppers ya' know .. the Maintence on the new guild halls will be putting me in the Norrathian Poor House!

WTB [Mass Panic (Master I)]!If things are being redistrubited I hope the lanterns get moved to year round recipies. Also sort of off topic but this made me think about it, things like the snowdrifts are really neat. Would it be possible to see other items that have effects like this crafted? I would love to put a lavaflow down or a void storm... just some random dreaming.
