I'm running Everquest II on a Dell XPS 720, Core 2 duo, 4 gb RAM, Vista 32bit, Nvidia GeForce 8800GT.  The game is running in administrator mode.Until I went on vacation a couple weeks ago, EQ ran beautifully in very high quality. Max quality at times.   Since coming back yesterday, with a couple of very long patches, EQ simply disappears after the file check/patch process.  Specifically, it reaches the point where the large red "Play" button appears.  When I push the button, the window disappears as if the game was launching, but nothing else appears. The game is not minimized, it's simply not there. When I check Task Manager, nothing shows in the Applications window.  The game DOES appear under Processes, but I can't find a way to get to it.Thoughts?   Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to readd EQ2.exe and everquest2.exe to your firewall? I spoke with a customer over the phone today that had the exact issue, where it would dissappear, but still be listed under processes.  She enabled her security to allow those progs again, and was upand running in no time.

Mine does this every time i launch. Takes ~1min-5mins to launch from "Play" button. In processes Everquest2.exe starts off very small and creeps up memory usage very slowly till it hits critical mass around 40mb then it quickly builds upto normal game running size and launchs at the same time.

No idea why it does this. I'll give the firewall exception thing a crack and see if it helps.

No joy adding both Launcher.exe and Everquest2.exe to firewall exceptions. I have no file by name of EQ2.exe to add.

Still have a long duration wait time before Everquest2.exe fires up from 24mb upto the needed 40+mb.

I had this same issue(hit play, and it hung for 1-5 mins then launched).  I read on another forum that I needed to disable my sound. (In windows, not EQ2).  This worked beautifully.  In XP the volume icon in the task bar can be used to deactivate your sound card.  I'm trying to find a workaround so I can hear the sound ingame.  It'd be really disappointing if I had to play it quietly SMILEY
