![]() Bump for a HotFix Shadows are one of the coolest parts of the game. But 4 years later, they still disappear after playing for a little while.

While they're at it, shadows that obey the laws of physics/optics and as such don't show up in places where they don't belong would be nice too. I remember on one occasion one of the flight tower gryphons in Butcher Block Mountains casting a clear and unobscured shadow on the ground despite being almost completely enclosed and unviewable from where the shadow was cast. If you can stand within the darkness of the shadow and not see the object casting the shadow then the shadow should not be there, and no shadows at all is, in my opinion at least, far better than numerous shadows that shouldn't even be there.

You make a new thread for a bumping fiesta? Kind of pointless and/or desperate.

Forgot to mention. My shadows don't ever render in Lesser Faydark. I can zone out and they work in Butcherblock mountains. Zone into faydark and nothing. Not one shadow ever

![]() I forgot about this problem. I used to play this game when it first came out and had it happen and now coming back to it, I thought something was messed up with my computer but obviously not. Mine turn off usually when I run into an area with a bunch of people and other effects going on, like a town or something. The framerate drops and the game kicks out the shadows to try and compensate for it. It's a good idea but it would be even better if it turned them back on after the framerate returns to normal. Something seriously needs to happen with this issue. The shadows, like in any other game, add a whole new layer of depth. Running around Commonlands and having all the trees casting shadows and stuff makes it all look very good, but with it off everything just looks plain and ugly. I read another post made by a technical support person stating that they couldn't reproduce the issue and therefore they can't fix something that they can't have on their systems. Well most likely they have some super computers that can run this game perfectly smooth on the highest settings. How about you bring in a "normal" computer and guaranteed you will get the issue. I used to have an ATI 9800pro but now I'm using an X1600pro. I know they support Nvidia more then ATI so I would suggest it could possibly be an ATI problem, but I've also seen some posts from people that are using an Nvidia and have the same problem. Anyway, fix the problem SOE. It's things like this that will kill a game. |

![]() actualy it dosnt realy matter what kind of card you have since most of the graphics is done on cpu and not gpu. i can only imagine what this game would look and run like if they moved most of the graphics to thegraphics card instaed of the cpu,and while they are at it patch duelcore support back into the game.

Yes, the game looks flat without the shadows. Curious fact though, on my PC the shadows will last longer if i have the internet explorer open (and minimized) when playing the game (playing in full screen btw). I tested this several times, with no explorer running, the shadows are gone in 2-5min., with it open, i can go for hours sometimes, but eventually the shadows will be gone |
