I just downloaded the game over the weekend and had no problems for the first 30-60 minutes of game play.  Soon after, I began getting the VPU recovery error and cannot stay in game for more than 15 seconds. SMILEY

I updated my drivers to the 7.1 (recomended for EQ2), and although it seemed to rectify the error, it did not (I could play for about 10 minutes before crashing).  I did a search here in the tech help forum, but all of the information regarding the issue dates back to 2006.

Did I miss something?  Is there a fix that stops this error from occuring, or am I doomed to deal with it?

Vid card is x600 256Mb

Put graphics settings to balanced and turn off shadows.  This fixed it for me.

I had shadows turned off and set to extreme performance, still get the error.

In order for the x600 series card to work with this game by not going into VPU recovery mode, you will have to visit www.guru3d.com and download the Catalyst CLASSIC 5.2 drivers!

Thanks Tebos!

That is what I found in the 2yr old thread, I just wasn't sure if anything had changed.
