OK, so every once in awhile you have to ask a stupid question.... Here's mine for today...I'm a level 80 Illusionist, with 130 AA's.  I have mostly soloed or grouped, but have done a little raiding.  I've been looking at the AA lines to try to figure out how to maximize my abilities that make me uniques as an illusionist and at the same time maximize my dps, cause most days I feel like an impotent mage in that area.   I see that on the enchanter line, most recommend agility, then int and agree that the damage is great, but how do I ever get my power under 30%?  I can remember the last time I saw my power under 50%---maybe it was the forge that killed me or something way back, but who knows.  What am I missing?  I power feed, but you can only do that so fast and so often, so I just don't see the power used.Probably the second stupid question would be how do you STAND having your power that low? Yes, I'm a control freak and I want the power! LOLThanks

Even with no Troubador in my group, and even with my power above 30%, I'm still able to pull down 2200 DPS pretty consistently in a raid environment.  I can easily see how a Troubador and power under 30% would put me over 3k DPS.  Wish we had one!The key is having the right equipment and AA setup.  I have a lot of gear that procs - both power proc and damage procs.  I have a lot of +Damage gear.  I have a good bit of +Crit gear.I think I'm hovering somewhere around 600 spell damage, 40% crits, 900 INT self buffed.I have 8's in every one of the AGI line components.  I have all the spell crits I can get, as well as Volatile Magic.  I have Time Compression and Illusory Arm in the Illusionist tree.I have two items with SoulSiphon, I have the Fabled power proc for my weapon, which is currently Staff of the Impaler.  I have Praetor's Guard in my ranged slot.  I have Mystical Orb of the Invoker and Bone Clasped Girdle for more proc damage.  I would dearly love to have Necromantic Orb, but alas, I do not. Most of my spells are Adept 3, I do have Mez masters.I'm not really sure what else to tell you . . . I don't have any complaints about my damage dealing abilities really.  Given a Troubador I would certainly deal a lot more damage, but I don't have one so no sense complaining about it.

That's actually helpful.  I had visions of trying to run around at <30% power for an entire instance or something and thinking, that's just got to be a pain the [Removed for Content].  I'm all ad3 or better and have just been working on the gear as I can, not being part of a raiding guild.  I have a couple of the pieces you mentioned and will work on that part a bit more.  I have been running 1200-1500 on parses, so probably some tweeking of equipment and AA's I should be pretty good. Thanks

After a while it's not an inconvenience, it's just habit.  You'll stay in a state of perpetual awareness of your power.  I usually stay under 50% the whole time I'm raiding.

1200-1500 DPS isn't that bad if your gear isn't fantastic. I hover around that area without volatile magic (spec'd down strength during 6 man content) and my gear is definitely not fantastic. I'm wearing the mastercrafted stuff with splotches of stuff I've gotten from instances and questing and definitely expect my dps to start going up when I start seriously upgrading my gear.

Just have sprint on one of your hotkeys and you'll develop the habit of flipping in on and off while idling waiting for pulls.  I usually let my power go to about 45% or so and hit it which drops me back to about 32 and just keep doing that till they announce count to pull at which point I fire off my power pool expander and the spell cost reducer that bring right to 30% at which point I start in with my 3 hit dps buff and my self cast speed/reuse reducer and then start into my dps chains.  Without a troub I'm usually around 2500dps with a troub I'm 3.5-4k.  I'm in a mix of legendary/treasured and 1 fabled piece.  Around 550-600 +spell, 900 int and every bit of proc gear I can get my hands on SMILEY  I have a pretty good amount of +power gen on my gear as well.  Beyond that it's all about the spell chains and never ever being idle casting unless forced to because no spell is up.  Also understanding spell priorities to know which to hit when multiple are available.  And watching for other key spells other group/raid members cast that can benefit us.I think as I start to get more fabled pieces a few key procing items I'll be able to start closing in on 4.5k+  If I can ever get to having the mythical version of the epic (2! tier 4 raids :/) and have the pet out without sacrificing buffs I'll close in on 5.5-6kThat's pretty dang good for a utility class SMILEY  I know of hard core raiders pulling even more but I'm mostly a casual raider so i'll never get the contested mob drops that are key to that last tier of dps.CB

There isn't really a lot of power proc gear in T8 that's really worth using. If you get you're Fabled epic you should be pretty set with regen when grouped with a bard (without one you'll probably need another proc or two).Procs are unreliable at times and you will need to use Sprint, Savanate, Mana Stone, Extract Mana, Hearts, Shards, etc. as needed to balance your power. The more time you spend trying to work within the 1-29% power range, the easier you'll find it.
