Download cancelled. Can't download 1/16/08 update or play.

So they took down the Frostfell decorations with a patch to the game today. I goto log on, it goes to update, starts downloading the file Everquest2.exe_delta. That file is done, goes onto the next task and then goes to Download cancelled. I thought maybe by switching away from the launchpad I had somehow clicked the Cancel button by accident while it still had focus. No big deal. I click Download and it starts again. Everquest2.exe_delta downloads again and again it cancels. I can't download the patch nor can I play now.

Any suggestions/help?

Same thing happening to me.  I'm on Vista Home Premium.  I run the game in compatibility mode for XP SP2 and as administrator.  I haven't had problems since I came back in August until this patch today.  I can patch the EU servers fine, but not the US servers.  So I'm assuming they broke something with the Frostfell patch.

Double check that the patcher's settings didnt change by right clicking and click "run as administrator" manually.

Vista Home Premium 64-bits. I turned off UAC went back in to update the game and it worked, that might be the cause.

Running XP here and having the same issue, have done a full file scan but hasnt made a difference.

Wont download misc1.vpk_delta... I get no activity on my connection at all during the patch then is states Download Cancelled - retried several times to no avail.

I am having the exact same problem.  I normally play on the EU servers.  Have tried connecting to both US and EU servers this evening, on both my pc's - one has vista and one has xp so it's not an OS problem.  The files get scanned, and then the patcher stalls on the first file, misc1.vpk_delta... and after 20secs or so, comes up 'Download cancelled'.

Can anyone tell me what UAC is and how to turn it off?  I'm guessing it's a vista thing so won't help with my XP pc, but if I can get one account in then I'll be happy!

Ok, I have tried this and still getting no joy.  This is still on both my Xp and Vista machines.  Anybody have any ideas?  Anybody else still having the problem?

I am having the issue.  I can patch fine on the US server but not on the EU, running vista 64bit and i have tried every thing i can think of.  I have tried the online chat support from Sony and they "need to trouble shoot further" and are sending me instructions by email.

Does anyone have the IP address of the English EU patch server so i can try to trace route and see if i can get there or find where it is falling over?

I have run a trace on the patch location from the location on the everquest2patch file - tracert amsrrpatch.everquest2.com - i hit a wall at vl155.amsixsw-1.sonyonline.net [213.244.164.38] giving destination unreachable.  Does anyone else get this?

I too have the same problem but with 2 different files - ZDDS17.vpk and eq2_default.ini  =( It lets me log in on US servers but not EU and im on XP. Iv had this problem since before christmas and havent found a solution yet - i even went on the live chat support but they didnt have the answer...

 If someone finds out how to fix this plz let us know!

i am having this issue now as well. i noticed something however: when i open the launchpad, a lp_plugin.exe stops responding. might that have something do do with it?

I've had this problem for a week now and it patches fine and lets me logon to the US servers but not EU. I've tried loads of things but without any luck. Always the same "download cancelled" and when i ran everquest2.exe it said it couldn't connect to the login servers, but ever since I tried to patch from the US servers the client app has taken me to US login servers so I can't really try that for EU until the patcher is sorted...

I've tried re-installing the game this morning, to see if that would help.  It doesn't.  Exact same problem, except now I'm stuck on a file called icon_ss22.dds_delta.   It doesn't patch at all.

Out of interest, what ISP are people who are having this problem on?

I have had the same problem with updating the cliant - only happenes on the euro side , does a file check then bombs out , although its fine when updating the us cliant .

This issue has only happened since they took out frostfell on the 16th . Whilst i can still play eq2 on the us servers , all my main characters are on splitpaw , so this is not a acceptable solution . What is puzzling is i can update the us cliant and not the euro - i did notice windows vista sent a auto update at 3am on the 16th .

Ticket currently escalated to Tech Tier 2 they said as I had 100% packet loss on one pingtrace that it was a firewall issue, which normally I would have accepted but as with everyone else the US client patches no problem so therefore its not a firewall problem.... the file has changed and is now stuck trying to get ZDDS17.vpk_delta...

Yes, a netgear router.

I've tried disabling the router firewall and the one on my pc's, but to no effect.  I don't think it's a firewall issue.

Also on AOL, and been having the exact same problem. The Planetside servers (also an soe game) are unreachable for me too, hope someone figures this out because I have no clue how to fix it.

Ok, AOL have obviously done something since the last patch.  I'm in the queue to talk to someone, will let you all know what they say.  Although, someone with more technical knowledge might want to contact them too
