Ok this is driving me nuts. There are a ton of "upgrades" in the Achievements for each class that based on the description are actually significant downgrades. Either the designers goofed on the descriptions, or they need calculators. Here is an example of one such downgrade among dozens: Necromancers have Seething Rot which for me right now at level 15, Apprentice I, does 11-15 damage instantly and each second, and has a duration of 4 seconds. This means it has a potential total damage of 55-75 damage. Enhance Seething Rot (achievement) increases it's damage by 1% and reduces it's duration by .5 seconds and has a max of 5 ranks. So with 5 ranks in it, which I could do right now with my 7 unused points, I would have +5% damage and -2.5 seconds duration. This makes the spell do 12-16 damage instantly and each second over a duration of 1.5 seconds for a total potential of 24-32 damage. That is a SERIOUS downgrade from the unenhanced 55-75 damage mentioned earlier. So, my question to the developers is, did you mess up the description of this and half the other achievement upgrades, or did you all fail gradeschool math? (also posted in skills forum as it's unclear where it's best suited and there is no "bugs" discussion forum for this game)

It actually does the same amount of damage, it just does it faster. This is especially good for grouping when mobs die fast enough that a full duration you lose damage where the quicker duration allows for the full damage to take effect

But how does it do it faster? Did they just totally leave out the information that tells you how the effect timing is changed?

I finally had someone with a necro reply on this in game, and on another thread. Between the two it has become clear that the developers only put HALF the specs on the achievements. Well, isn't that a pain in the rear, all they had to do was list that it decreases tick time .1 seconds and recharge time .5 seconds in addition to the other things. Once again, I hope someone at Sony takes note of this and adds in the missing info for all these achievements so we REALLY know what's going on before spending points on something that otherwise looks like a downgrade.

If you look at the actual spell description (not the achievement description) you will see the upgraded damage per tick, time between ticks and the total duration of the spell.

Compacting the DoT's duration simply makes it tick faster. There is no loss of damage.

Aye the description of the AA are confusing but they are upgrades. As an Example we will say you haveSample DoT 100 damage and 100 damage every 100 seconds, duration 500 seconds.Unmodified it will do:100 damage(100 second delay)100 damage(100 second delay) 100 damage (100 second delay) 100 damage (100 second delay)100 damage (100 second delay)100 damageNow if you add an AA ability:(Improved Sample DoT: increase damage by 1% and decrease duration by 1%)The 'duration' is both overall AND the every X seconds. so modified you have:101 damage (99 second delay) 101 damage (99 second delay) 101 damage (99 second delay) 101 damage (99 second delay) 101 damage (99 second delay) 99 damageIt is an improvement, just confusing.
