I've recently returned to EQ2 (It's been years since I've played) and a friend of mine has picked up EQ2 too. We're seeking to make a class combination that will work incredibly well together and allow us to duo most of what we need to get done while we play. As I've discovered, it's not exactly easy finding a group anymore on EQ2 for stuff you need to get done.

My friend has said that he would definitely prefer to play a Warlock or a Wizard whereas I'm much more flexible. I have a level 34 Fury I was thinking I could mentor him with for a long time to catch up on AA points (He was leveled before the AA system,) but I also have a 26 Illusionist I've recently started that I'm enjoying quite a lot. I've also thought about maybe playing a Paladin or a Conjuror.

So for someone who is a bit more experienced, what do you recommend would be the best duo possible between a Warlock/Wizard and another class? Thanks a ton for your input.

Illusionist without a doubt. With Warlock/Wiz already set in stone you are missing either a healer or a tank already, making the root/nuke the best playstile for this duo. Illusionist will allow you to do content like no other class.

One of the most successful duo's I was ever in was me on my coercer and a friend on his warlock.  We would "pull" by both of us rooting the mob, then he'd use his buggest nukes on it while I sent my pet on it.  If it broke free. . stun, re-root.  No biggie at all.  Worked really really well.

chanter and sorceror combos are great for duos. massive potential to kill pretty much anything, given a little space.

I would personally pick an illusionist before a coercer.  But if your going to pair up a Warlock or Wizard with either of those two classes, make sure they understand they shouldn't be mezzing mobs.

The warlock's AE's are moot if the mobs are mez'd.

If I had to make the choice, I would pick a Defiler to go with my Warlock.  However, my girlfriends Inquisitor does just fine.

So pick a coercer for the stuns.... can nuke through those quite happily...
