is there anyway to lighten and brighten your homes? mine is really pretty dull and dark and when i buy or get given lights they dont really make the room brighter.  they just sort of emit light but it clearly doesnt really bounce and reflect like proper lights do and there arent enough windows.  is there anything you can do about this or is it some thing you just put up with?

Look at the examine window for any Carpenter-made light source, and you'll see it includes a description about how much light it produces.  There are two different possible descriptions.  It's obvious which one is which.  Using this, you can choose items that having light sourcing programmed into the model you place in your home.Enchanter's candelabras are a nice alternative to crafted lights.  They cast a good pool of light and are available from various npc housing merchants in some of the villages.  I've used them frequently. If you really want a certain area to be very bright, I've found placing two iron sconces (or whatever else works) in exactly the same spot works wonders.
