![]() I've heard these can be found in Butcherblock Mountains and other expansion zones. Can anyone explain how they work? Like, how can I tell if a wall can be climbed or not? Are they marked somehow on the map? How do I actually climb one once I find it? Thanks! |

![]() They usuallly look like they have tracks on them, and they sometimes have what look like daggers stuck into the wall every 10 feet or so. To climb them, you to run into them and hold the up arrow to go up, down to go down... and left and right arrows position which way your climbing up... for instance if you turn a little one way, your character will climb up and over, so you need to make sure that you keep your character as close to the middle as possible less you fall. |

If you have trouble getting onto the wall, it sometimes helps to jump at it. EDIT: That's for climbing up. This won't help for climbing down...

Actually, jumping when climbing down can get you down a climbable wall nice and quick! Once you get the hang of climbable walls, here's a tip for getting down them quickly: Start heading down the wall. Jump (spacebar) Press your UP arrow key to cling back onto the wall before you hit the ground. This is the key to not getting smooshed! Press down to climb down the little bit of wall that's left! **I recommend practicing this technique on a character that has safe fall to get the hang of it before you do it with a low hit-point, cloth wearer who will get flattened upon impact at the bottom of the wall. |

Climbable walls where first introduced with DoF (Desert of Flames) expansion so all the original zones don't have many climbable surfaces. You tend to find them in DoF, KoS or EoF zones only. Jumping while climbing down a cliff-side is called abseiling. When DoF came out there were a few abseiling clubs in game that would have competitions and videos of them jumping down cliff-sides. With EoF however fall damage was dramatically reduced so abseiling is not as fun anymore. No risk makes less fun.

I usually recognizable climbable walls in that they are perfectly flat and vertical (at least in Faydark they are), no slopes or anything. If you see a wall surface like that, it should be climbable. |

Also, you can't climb while mounted.
