About 6 months ago I got to lvl 30 and was excited to buy new armor for my zerker only to find to my dismay that the new armor i had purchased made me look exactly as i did 20 lvls ago. So i quit the game(yes i'm big on looks). NOT that most armor in this game looks good at all, but since the patch recently that added the preview option so you can see what you are buying looks like before you buy it i have been able to look pretty decent now and my armor matches better. So i'm inspired to stay and play. Anyone else experience this change?

Actually, to me the looks are a very important part of a game. Your character is the first thing you see in game with the character creation menu, and you'll be spending all your in game time looking at them, unless you play in first person for some reason. If you don't like the way your character looks the game play better be phenomenal or you're not going to stick with the game, cause let's face it, everyone wants to look cool. That's at least part of the reason I never liked WoW, the characters just look too cartoonish for my taste, and it doesn't get any better with level, in fact some of the epic armor sets look absolutely ridiculous. In EQ2 on the other hand, I love the fact you start out in rather plain, kind of beat up armor, and progress up from there. Right now the only tiers where the look of crafted armor doesn't change much are 1-2, which look the same and 3-4 which look the same and those are the fastest tiers. Once you hit level 42 you can get a suit of Ebony made and that's where it starts to look pretty cool. Ebony and Cobalt plate both look pretty sweet. I never really liked the powder blue look of Xegonite though, but luckily I didn't wear it for long. At T7 there's plenty of sets you can collect if you want to avoid the mismatched look too. Of course the Legendary EoF set is all fairly easy to come by if you aren't a raider, and even though the helm isn't the horned helm, the rest of the set looks pretty good (and you can get the Vaults helm or Hoo'lah to replace the Strongbear's and still get the (6) set bonus). Then there's the Doomrage set from Labs, the Relic set (drops in molds from Labs, LoA and Deathtoll) and of course the EoF fabled set which you have to be in a fairly high end raiding guild to complete. If you really want to avoid looking all patchwork, you shouldn't have too much trouble completing at least one of those sets if you really try. Anyway, yeah I love the dressing room feature. I was at a friend's house the other day and we sat there for probably half an hour using in game links to put his character in different armor sets to see what they look like. It's awesome you can even see what you look like in gear you wouldn't ever be able to wear or put in impossible combos of class set gear. I know it sounds silly but it's a lot of fun.

Thats really one true word! Amen! As a non-wearer of robes you have to look at an annoying clownish self until you have at least chest, shoulders and legs of a set. |

Am I the only one compelled to obtain a full suit of the Darkmetal set regardless of it's quality?

If my avatar looks ugly I can't play it. I am HUGE on looks of armor and weapons. Stats are completely secondary for me. I bought an adept blood hide gi (looks freaking awesome!!) for my bruiser for 2 plat. It was way overpriced, stats aren't any better than what she was wearing. But it looks sooo awesome that I couldn't resist. I bought a mastercrafted spear for my zerker, and I don't use it because when I run it pokes through my head. Oh, and I have also never played a caster class because I hate the way 98% of the robes look in this game. Vanity will kill us all in the end.

EoF legendary set is more like light brown/gold, that pic is silver/gray. Back int he T5 days it was easy to get matching set, as all fabled armors had same look. I hope they put more time on RoK armor looks, so you won't look like a rainbow even if you don't have full set.

I am working on relic and doomrage right now...i noticed that the firebrand breastplate and strongbears doesnt look half bad together...also, legplates of the blood howler from COV also match the stongbears pretty well.

Now it's within the realm of possibility that your computer displays color tints differently then mine, but I absolutely promise you that those pictures are what I claim to be. I've been trying to put together the various armor sets for different classes. You can compare them to other armor sets here if you like. |

Looking at those sets, they do look a little bit different than what i see in game, not sure why. Maybe it's my settings.
