RPLFG and RPEvents chat channels

((With the community spirit we were overwhelmed with at the Festival of Unity, we wanted to take the momentum and see this server, and especially its roleplay, rise to even greater heights. In that vein, we would like the community to help us spread the word about 2 in-game chat channels that we believe, if utilized with the zeal the Festival of Unity was, will benefit us all considerably.

/join RPLFG to look for other roleplayers for adventure. All alignments are welcome within, just be sure to specify what your character's restrictions might be.

/join RPEvents to look for and advertise roleplay events. All alignments are welcome within, just be sure to specify what your character's restrictions might be.

What's the difference between the 2? Well, while we anticipate much crossover between them, they are designed for very different things. RPLFG is adventure-specific (getting xp, quests, perhaps even a raid or two), while RPEvents would be for the server's many tavern nights, things like the Festival of Unity, and the like, where there will be little to no actual adventuring involved.

Please help us make these more worthwhile by taking advantage of them and spreading the word about them. This community is thriving with creative and fun-loving players, so let's enjoy it to its fullest.))

I'll be adding these to my chat channels as soon as I log in tonight. I think its a good idea in general to ride the popularity of the Festival and try to use the momentum to push new ideas to the public while their ears are still "open" persay. Maybe a good way to get some guild members too .

Is the idea of /RPLFG that we would be forming a group with roleplaying as a main focus, along with adventure? Or would it be just to get together people who happen to be roleplayers, for normal, semi-IC, semi-OOC grouping? It's a good idea, I just wanted to clarify that. Thanks!

/RPLFG has actually been around for a good while, and has been pretty active again in the past few months. It is an OOC channel (though people do use it ICly, which is fine, too) used to seek out other roleplayers to hunt with in IC groups. Depending on who is in the group, this can mean a group that is RP-light or one that has little to no OOC in it at all....depends on who you group with and what sort of requests you make when forming a group out of RPLFG. Basically, the idea is to be able to hunt without dropping your IC persona.

/rplfg is still very active.

Another popular RP and RP-friendly chat channels, I recommend /rm and /rfn.

A bump to the sticky post. For those who claim to not be able to find RP on Antonia Bayle, these channels are still active. If you are lurking and /RPlfg is quiet, just send a "Hello" into the channel. That might be all it takes to get a response within a few minutes. As not everyone is looking at the channel all of the time.

If you are looking for spatial RP in the streets of a particular city, by all means say so in /RPlfg. Casual, street roleplay isn't what it was since Guild Halls came into being. Street RP still occurs. Just not as often. So if you want that, by all means suggest a location into the channel. Some player's may appreciate the suggestion.

For example: *a well-armored Knight might be seen patrolling the streets of South Qeynos*
or, *the robed Tier'dal browses the shops in Neriak*
or, *the bored Merchant hopes for business in Windstalker Village*
or, "Hey! Let's get some street RP going today. Anyone got a preference as to where?"

This is the sort of thing we regularly use /RPlfg for. It's okay to take initiative.

/RPevents is typically quiet unless an actual event announcement is sent within the hour prior to that event.

I'd like to take opportunity to clarify that this topic was from the original Antonia Bayle server forum. Carried into the Roleplaying subforum during SOE forum consolidation. However, if roleplayers from any server care to adopt these channel names and standards for themselves I can't imagine anyone would object.
