Perhaps some quest I haven't done yet explains what they are. Rather muscular, greenish humanoids with matty hair, pointy ears, carnivorous teeth, and bad posture. You see them mostly in Mistmoore Catacombs, and on an island in New Tunaria (Outcast Island, or something like that). Maybe other places as well. They seem to be tribal in nature, and some of the named ones in MMC wear shamanic headgear and are in conflict with Mistmoore's werewolves. Are they anything established (ie, seen in any EQ1 zones I may not have seen before I quit the game of boredom at level 41)? Stylistically they seem to resemble a combination of a couple of the Taelosian races from EQ1 (from what I've seen of Allakhazam screenshots), but I highly doubt anything from Taelosia would have ever, ever made it to Faydwer. So what are they?

![]() They are failed experiments. When the elf's in New Tunaria were trying to breed a "pure" race there were some.... throw backs..... As you go along it looks more and more like Mistmoore was helping with the experiments and "racial cleansing" which is why they are in both New Tunaria and Mistmoore Catacombs. They were once elves (or at least were considered genetically inferior to the elves that live in New Tunaria after their selective breeding program.) Since being thrown out of eden (if you'll excuse the comparison) they have become very tribal and are more accepting of other races than their "cousins." |

Ah, I just compared them to the eq1 troglodytes by default... but I guess that would make NO sense at all

I think the Myr'Dal are a combination of orcs and elves. Within the upper catacombs there are Elven and Orcish guests. Every once in a while a vampire tries to bring one of each to some room, although I forgot the name of the vampires in the room they are something along the lines of spiritmelder. There is also a quest that requires you to kill the guests, saying that that death is a better fate than what the vampires have in store for them.

Yeah they're the Myr'Dal, one of Mistmoore's experiments. There's an island full of outcasts in New Tunaria as well.

Hmmm yes but there are also dwarfs, Halflings and half-elves in there as well (some barbarians too I can't remember?) They are Thralls (or held in thraal by the Vampires) so any fate is better than what they could/would be used for.

I go with the elven distortion thing. There is a quest in MMcatacombs (forget the guys name) when you talk to him he wants you to burn coffins. But in his discussion you ask him about those peeps. He starts saying he was sent to kill them but felt pity for them seeing faces he knew. That they were once elves and he couldnt bring himself to killing his friends so instead he wants to kill the vamps to prevent this from continuing to happen. (thus burn coffins).
